New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode (NDG7475T)

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

YIKES! !!!!!! A Green Lantern WILL ride again! A MORAL IMPERATIVE to do in a Combiner Class !!!Here we go again! !!!! A BIT HIGH ON THE COST! !!! I will wait ..... for sure! ! Remember, the first 445 diodes were 3K.....3K ya right......some got them, NOT ME... BEAM OUT

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

I want...so badly...

I guess I don't have to eat now...

Suppose I could skip a couple months rent payment and live on the streets.

Yeah, I suppose "pulled" units from projectors will be at least one third of that price.

Murder fund, ARG?

Hell yeah, I'm down.

Would we be able to raise $950?

............aaaaaaand done

Haha, that was a typo on my behalf, sorry! I meant "as low as 510nm!".

That means Angelos is prolly building one right now.

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

There they are at last! I've been waiting for these diodes for quite some time :) although it seems I'll have to wait a bit for the price to go down lol

haha. Naaa not this one guys.:na:

I just seen it.

I did not see these coming at all or did i know about them.

Iam not one that likes green to much so i dont keep up with ths WL.

Though one thing i want to point out again that was pointed out above but was overlooked is the divergence.

Its horrible. If the datasheet is correct.

So watch out. These are going to be a flashlight and will need correction.

There is no way one will be happy with just a bare Aspheric lens. Think of a P73 with a G lens .

All that power Brightness would go to waste.

Probably the easiest quick solution for a handheld is to add a FAC lens to the diode and use a Long FL lens to get you a collimated thicker beam. Or just make a flat platform and use a pair of C-lens. Similar setup that you would do for a P73.

This diode for sure will need correction. Not just a simple drop in.

Yeah, nice power but at the expense of divergence.

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

A few notes about diodes.

520 9.0mm 1.0W (46 x 11) Nichia ( Will be ok in laser projectors)
445 9.0mm 1.0W (44 x 14) Nichia ( Proven to be ok in laser projectors )
635 5.6mm 0.5W (35 x 7 ) Mitsubishi ( Proven to be ok in laser projectors )

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Yeah for a laser projector these would be pretty much corrected the same way the 445 9mm have been corrected as with good results.

Thats what iam mostly looking forward to with these.

Its going to be amazing to see a quad setup or more. Even a dual setup will be shocking in a small package. Iam guessing we can expect at least 1.5W to 2W out of them.

Being that now all 3 diodes red, blue & green will now have similar beam profiles would it then be easier to not have any overlap with red and blue over the green like you would have if you used a solid state 532nm system since its beam profile is more round.?

What i dont understand is the operating voltage that they show in the datasheet is 4.6V typical.

I wonder how they where able to drop the voltage down so much compared to the PL520 diodes that run at ~7V.

Is that even possible.

How where they able to pull that off with more power.!?

i hope the divergence turns out more like the 445 diodes and not like the 635's

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

They probably used a different chemistry or just tweaked the chemistry to drop the voltage.

This is exciting times, I just wish I had the $ to get one right away but have to wait.
Thanks for sharing +1

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Wow, 1 Watt of green power. Only the price now. It costs only one Bitcoin. :D

If you do some calculations, you'll see that the efficiency has tripled compared to the PL520s. So probably it affected voltage drops too...

Its an engineering sample. Maybe thats why it has so many "lines". Its not optimized yet, even lifetime is not guaranteed (according to datasheet)...
