New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode (NDG7475T)

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Amazing!!

Good to know we finally have the technology to create another 1W wavelength

Nice find by the way!

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

I don't trust the calculator either (the CIE data, actually), but I bet it is brighter than 3W of 450nm. The contrast also helps green visibility against most backgrounds.

Quite sure we can push these to at least 1.5W!

Edit: about the find - I've been searching "520nm laser" and "515nm laser" on feebay once every few days for a while now. I was (am) really looking forward to these!

Edit2: the calculator can use newer CIE data if you set "ChromaCompat=yes" on the address. That makes it more accurate on the blue side of things: http://rohanhill.com/tools/Relative...2=520&mw2=1000&useRaleigh=on&ChromaCompat=yes

Did you guys notice the datasheet said wavelength can be as low as 410nm? This would be a good diode to try cryocooling.

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

What are the 9mm 445nm diodes rated at?

Holy shit, this means I can possibly get that 488nm (or similar) handheld I always wanted.

I hope this this is exactly like when the first 5.6mm 445's hit the streets, you could get one on Ebay for $550.00

These will either go down in price in 6-10 months or they will be hard to even find :undecided:

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Mother of God, where does techhood get this s@#$. hopefully C@asihoe will start using these for DLP projectors! I imagine the day of under-100$ 1watt+ green diodes are upon us. The fact that those diodes are Nichia make me think that even more- what with all the 9mm 445's they make being used in projectors (dont they also make the m140's? or is that still unknown?)

EDIT: anyone found the datasheet for these? Not on Nichia's website, cant find it on google either...
SECOND EDIT: I realize now that it is on the ebay page. DER.

But that brings up another question, why can i not find it online anywhere....? Do you suppose Techhood got these straight from Nichia?

OK so from 520 to 410 is a long ways for a diode to shift isn't it, do you think maybe it's a miss print

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

Let's see. If the blue 9mm is rated at 1.6W at 1.7A and we get over 3W driving them at 2.3A or more.... I wonder how much green we can get if we drive this over 2.3A. :eg:

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

I am sure he knows he has the corner on the diodes at the moment and wants to make a killing off some early adopters.;)

My bet is he is not supposed to have them. Nichia from what I have found does not like their diodes being sold in this fashion.

Yea no kidding. But how is he so out there in the diode world? I'm jealous...

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

I asked Robinson (techhood) about the diode datasheet and he said he will email it to me (full version)... Oh right.

offtopic:
Hmm who cares about 1W of green anyways.

heres the 1W 473nm diode.

edit:
12ºx48º, worst divergence ever

Re: New Nichia 9mm 1W 520nm diode

I want...so badly...

I guess I don't have to eat now...

Just my thoughts... I just spent $550 today on something, there's no way I could buy one of these if I tried.

I bet your purchase was worth while :D

edit: To top it off you know this thing could be overdriven no problem...1.5W in a handheld is definitely possible.

Hey Flamingpyro, how much for a 5 watt WFTM ?

Definitely gonna need FAC optics but OMG!
