Re: Spyder 3 Krypton - 1W of green power from WL

It says it is 800% ,2,000%, and 19,000% brighter than blue red and purple! Thank god for wicked lasers!!!!!

The new S3 Krypton with a letter from Steve.

OK I received an e-mail from WL this morning and I figured I would share it and some of you probably got the same one.

Introducing the world's brightest laser you can legally own.
More than 8000 times brighter than the sun.

Dear Jeff,

The Spyder 3 Krypton green laser is now available in 3 power outputs, <300mW, <500mW, and <1W. This is the world's brightest handheld laser and over 8,000 times brighter than the looking at the sun.

First, I want to personally apologize about our backorder situation that you may have experienced. Last year, with the release of the Spyder 3 Arctic, the world's most powerful laser, we lost control of our manufacturing schedule. Thousands of customers waited several months before they finally received their products. Regrettably, we've lost a lot of our hard-earned reputation and trust.

This time around, we've learned our lesson, and expect different business practices as a result. You will see the in-stock quantity in real time on every product to know for certain that our products are in stock or not. Right now, there are less than 1,000 Kryptons in stock, and we expect to sell out of certain models fairly quickly.

Once they run out, we will not accept any pre-orders for Kryptons not in stock until we have a definite, concrete, and confirmed date when we will have them manufactured. This might not happen for several weeks, so we apologize in advance for not having made enough. Kryptons are a magnitude of complexity above to manufacture given they rely on DPSS technology instead of the direct diode technology found in the Arctic.

The Krypton is not only is brightest handheld laser in the world. It's also the most advanced, utilizing Smartswitch 2.0 with 9 modes of operation. It also is the first laser to contain TeslaCool Theromstatic Regulation, meaning, you can turn on the laser indefinitely without risk of damaging the diode.

Thank you for your support of Wicked Lasers, and please wear the included safety goggles when using high-powered laser products. Do not shine lasers at airplanes or vehicles, it is considered a felony in the USA to do so.

Sincerely,
Steve Liu
CEO
=============================================

OK, so Steve thinks that I will do business with WL ever again he is totally wrong. Like the saying goes: screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me!

I wouldn't trust WL as far as I can trust my dog with not eating my hamburger that I left sitting on the table.

The prices are 300mw $299.95 $500mw 399.95 and $1000mw 999.95, and probably way underspec.

Just my 11/2 cents.

EDIT

Yeah now I see somebody else beat me to it.
sorry guys.

Actually it says " 800%, 2,000%, and 19,000% brighter than red, blue, and purple light respectively."

I think they need a lesson in relative brightness...

Examine max/min power ratings:

300mw/150mw
500mw/250mw
1000mw/500mw

Move along folks, nothing to see here...

Very good point. I owe you a +rep for that.

why not tear apart your current arctic?
lol
or get the mini red arctic to do it :)
cheaper and more portable!

My current arctic is already slightly modded, does over 900mW. With a g1 it would actually be 1W... but frankly I just don't care enough for it. Barely ever use it. Probably going to resell.

I will be ordering the red mini tomorrow and will post a review on it... if the 635nm diodes pan out, that's what it will be used for.

I'm very curious whether the modules being in the krypton are basically the exact same as those being used in the DD, o-like and lazerer models. Unfortunately I doubt too many people will want to tear apart a 1K laser to find out:( Hopefully someone will open up a 300mW version though.

At those prices... a plus is that the diaper crowd won't
be able to afford it...

Folks. Use the search button.

This is NOT specifically directed at 00Giorge

We'll probably have to start merging threads like we did wit the Arctic :(

Peace,
dave

WTH?!
he could have double his laser stock if he bought off of members here ;)

Thanks Dave,

I looked to see if there were any other posts about the e-mail but I guess I didn't look hard enough.:banghead:

I got one of the early prototypes about 18 months ago. AWSOME power..... I had to return it but I was afraid to measure divergence since it was full power or nothing.

Re: Spyder 3 Krypton - 1W of green power from WL

We at LPF are not Steve's big customers. Look at car dealers and other stores which cater to idiots. Steve is a businessman and has marketing ability. HE KNOWS THAT WE KNOW and we are small customers --- So What? Stop the worry.

HMike

Have laser coming -- Will review
