Post your PC setup .

Yeah, the driver sends a HV pulse when the tube is connected. The tube does not like this when it is already energized so it deposits material on the glass and can burn through the glass tube. Tape in the wires for good measure. I would hate to see that touch the computer case or a board and fry it! Hope it helps! F

I removed the fried cathode and threw it away after i noticed it smelling of burning, and barely working, unless I wiggled the wire. The second one is probably mourning the loss of its brother, but at least its connection seems to be secure and it's working. I should get my camera in a few days, probably Thursday. Then will you REALLY see what a big monitor is.... not those measly 24" ones people are so fond of ;D

Personally, unless you get a 30" PC Monitor, not a TV, I don't like it, TV is way to low resolution for me, I love my Crysis in 1920x1200!

quite old but for my needs it's still ok :)

I'm sure my setup takes the cake for being the most cluttered.....but this is my personal office and I like it that way. *The computer is an older Dell 4600 that's badly in need of more RAM and one day I hope to get a flat-panel monitor and get rid of the CRT. *That's if I can stop spending all my spare change on lasers and their accessories!

I also have a combo fax/scanner/printer/copier on the right + another flatbed scanner that now sits on top of my trash can because I have no where else to put it!

EDIT: Added a pic!

I'll have to take pics later, but here's my studio PC specs (certainly not entirely new, but it runs extremely fast):

Athlon FX-62 dual-core processor @3GHz
6GB DDR2 RAM
2TB total HDD space
2X Radeon 3850 512MB
19" Westinghouse monitor
Mackie Onyx 1620 mixer w/ Onyx firewire audio interface
Dynaudio BM5A Studio monitors (simply the best sounding speakers I've ever heard, PERIOD)
M-Audio Keystation Pro88 88-key MIDI controller
Presonus TubePre mic preamp
Matched stereo pair of Blue Microphones Dragonfly mics
Probably near $15,000 worth of DAW software including:
Ableton Live Suite 8
Complete Native Instruments VST line (all plugins currently available)
All current Rob Papen/ConcreteFX plugins

I spend a lot of time lost in sound. Music production/audio engineering is my other expensive-ass hobby.. but it makes me money, so it's OK.

(I really need better furniture, but it works...)

My laptop is a crappy Pentium M Dothan machine.

I've put a good $30 into thhis desktop. We have a very sentimental relationship.

I paid the high price for this computer because I'm planing to keep it for 6 or 8 years. That's always what I do. I take them very powerful, and keep them twice as long instead of choosing less performance and lifetime.

I like Macs because I can get the best, and so it takes a long time before the computer becomes out-dated.

The previous Mac, that I replaced with this one, (Mac G5) had lasted me 6 years, I changed it because it used the old IBM processors and so I couldn't upgrade to the new OS.
