In all honesty...It's the same exact way in the PC world too.
Buy a computer that is ahead of the rest and it will last 6 + years. Been there done that.
IT's good advice to anyone looking for a computer.
My pc...I made it about 2 years ago.....if not longer and it still rivals the majority of PCs being sold today.
Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Ubuntu 9.???
Asus p5k3 delux MOBO
intel core 2 quad q6600 2.4ghz @ 3.0ghz Very stable
4 gig DDR3
1.6 TB hard drive space
ATI HD 4870
2 TV Tunners
550W psu
26"monitor
In all honesty....nothing seems to slow it down.
Now my roommate on the other hand bought a Dell from Walmart around the same time and it barely runs in comparison to mine and has broken down twice now.
I fully expect my PC to last me another 2 to 4 years before I upgrade it. Well, I might update the video card in a year or two....or buy a second one to run it on crossfire, but it's not like I am buying an entire computer again.
