ARCTIC HOST feeler! interested? READ

Dudes, I would say this... Pretty much everyone would like an Arctic Host Laser (except much stronger).

The host looks awesome, but the most complaints is that the Laser itself doesn't look that "clean" and is not as strong as claimed.

If the price is right, i'm sure these will sell like Hotcakes !!

Its not that the price is unreasonable by any means. If someone is looking for a great looking host search no further.

Question: Is it going to be anodized? I dont remember anyone discussing this and lets not for get that aluminum is bright and shiny when its raw although that would look quite col as well!

From Pontiacg5 post #15:
I would sandblast the exterior and anodize them black to get a finish close, if not better, than the original arctic. I don't really have time to go anodizing them a bunch of different colors though so they would all be black.

Take me off for now please, a the the moment i'm low on money but if I run into some before the due date i'll let you know and you can put me back on. But for now count me out.

Please post the pricein the OP-- I donrt see it at least tell me which page.

I don't know if this is an appropriate suggestion or not -

I like staying subscribed to this thread, since I'm interested in the host. But I'm wondering if it would be appropriate to call a "moratorium" of sorts on "I'm in / I'm out" replies?

My rationale - I know participant numbers are important for Pontiac's pricing attempts. However, I think it's fair to say that even with the plus 1s and minus 1s we keep getting, we're still over and above the number of people needed to make this worthwhile. IE - the interest is clearly here, and it seems to be solidly over 25 people.

At this point, people are ducking in and out based on fairly speculative pricing that may be completely off in the end. Why don't we just "pause" our updates, since they all seem to be price-motivated anyway.

Then once Pontiac knows the actual price, and assuming he still wants to undertake this awesome project for our benefit, we can do a massive in/out tally?

Again, I don't know if that's an appropriate suggestion or not - I bow to those with more experience :)

That sounds like a good idea, plus it's less work for the OP, otherwise he'd have to go through all the posts and check the possibles/for sures again.

How about this, I will update the OP with pontiacs "posts. eg: he said estimate of $75-100. which is still just a roundabout number. it could be less could be higher. SO i will put that in the OP and also say what he last said about time, being it could be a while... OR we could just let it fall out and let it cool down until pontiacg5 makes any further updates. And again give me more ideas, I will do what is needed. Yeah i subscribe to it to and i sometimes check it to see if I missed pontiacs posts and just see everyone waiting answers.

"If it ain't broke don't fix it." If that's what works for you then that's probably the best way to proceed from here. Thanks for running this for everybody jakeGT.

I agree and I trust that Pontiacs got enough people interested and the right tools to really try and give us a good price. He will charge by how much work it takes for him and wont try and get every Penny he can. Hopefully

yup, if it's $75 for a direct diode host, anodized black then i'm still in....i need a badass permanent home for a 445 diode....or a 12x diode.

Pontiac and jake rather than 1 or 2 for me I am in firm for 2 of these hosts. Thank you!

I'm still in if it comes in anywhere around $100. I'm thinking dual driver 445nm build for myself...

^ ^ Nice. Dual drivers are my new specialty... I'm trying to restrain myself from ordering another 3 hosts because I'm dying to see how far these host can be pushed with the heatsinking capabilities :eg: It's going to be a good year :D
