Any one seen this? Axixz Glass lens for 405 nm

Howdy all
Well my 405 lens from Aixiz came the other day so now I have five different lenses here so I thought I would put them in my GGW and and my LPC lasers to see just what happens. all tests were done with the beam focused to aprox 3mm dia and 2" from LPM except the "no lens" test was at point blank range. back of acrilic was opened to full open. tests were taken with a Heath IM-2215 current meter and Laserbee LPM-1. to start with is the GGW running @ 173Ma 123Mw no lens.

Aixiz acrilic..........Aixiz glass...........Aixiz 405............JayRob..........LarryDFW
118mw...............104mw..............141mw..............172mw...........174mw

next was the LPC running @ 209Ma 101mw no lens.

106mw...............104mw..............100mw...............124mw...........122mw

I might add and this is my own opinion ! that all lenses seem to fill a certin nich, I like the beam pattern of the Aix 405 best it's clean with no wings when focused to a pin pont. on the other hand there's no way to match the power of Larry's or Jay's lens both SMOKE !!! and I mean that lit. Kudos to the small guys who can pull this off without a big company in there back pocket. :thanks:
I will continue to buy all 5 of these lenses as I have a need, besides I'm hooked LOL...

Flaminpyro;

Great job to compare all the latest lens assemblies side-by-side.

Good testing takes an investment of time.

On the BR test, you achieved the best power increase (over 47%) I've seen...
with our new "no spring Hi Power" lens assembly
(the Aixiz plastic lens must have been degraded)

The new wide open lens aperture should increase power slightly.

The final factor, is of course the power obtained for the cost of the lens.

The Aixiz 405 is $26 ppd from O'like for a 19% increase on the 6X ($1.36 per %).

The "Hi-Power" lens w/tighter threads is $56.95 ppd for a 47% increase on the 6X ($1.21 per %).

The Hi-Power lens however,
also works well on Green and Red lasers.

My 405nm jumped from 108 with aixiz acrylic to 138 with aixiz glass for 405nm.

I got mine today. I am not impressed. They came in the half threaded lens holder. The beam was not a significant improvement. I got about a 7% increase with the 6X diode.

These will NOT be part of my stock. Anybody want two of them for cost? ($33)

Peace,
dave

Yeah I tried one of those AixiZ glass 405's too...

Not really that good. You get kind of spoiled on the 405-G-1! :D

They updated their store (Aixiz) they are now listed with accessories.
I have a few on the way... we'll see how they turn out.

hey you willing to trade for those dave???

wow just got these results were as follows
6x with acrlic ------------------------------190mw @ 200ma
6x with aixis glass --------------------------223mw @ 200 ma

beam quality was better with the acrylic
the glass had an oval look with some splash
also it didn't seem to focus as well as the aixis acrylic
but overall i am happy i just have to figure out what to send to dave

I got 118mW with Acrylic and 138mW with Aixiz glass (PHR).
As others have said, the small power increase is not that impressive once you've used a Hi-power lens, but beam quality and divergence is better. For $15 I don't think it was a waste of money. It will outlast an acrylic lens and is "healthier" for your diode.

I ordered some, not happy with the divergence I am getting on my Hi-Powered Lens assembly. Only $15 dollars its worth a shot if I get better beam quality. One thing that people should be testing is the power output of the 405-g-1 after a distance of lets say 25ft. Its been proven that the 405-g-1 lens lets more power through but it seems that some of that power diverges differently then the center dot. So the 405-g-1 splash looks terrible at long distances. So all that "extra power" that is let through is just a burdon at long distances. I am trying to use two 8x's with a PBS in a scanner and I cant have all that splash. I'm going to check out the lenses to see if they will fit my Application. 405-g-1 is still the best lens for a hand-held lasers to burn stuff with, I do recognize that.

Hmmm... that's interesting what you say about the 405-G-1 at long distance. I find this hard to believe just with visual experience.

I have made two different 7 color builds, and the one using my 405-G-1 glass lens for the blu-ray is what I was expecting for color blend and power even for examining the dots visually at a distance of 75'!

That said, I have not made meter comparisons at long distance...

MISTERWILLING:

I did a test a while ago with the 405-G-1 lens at 10ft but I don't remember the numbers exactly.

I just did a test, however, with the reader lens from a PHR-803T sled mounted in a brass aixiz lens nut.
Splash and beam profile is very similar, with the exception being that the PHR lens makes more noticeable "wings."

I used a PHR diode at distances of 1" and 5' for this test.
Beam diameter of the "hot spot" (not including "wings" or splash) is 1mm x 2mm at aperture and about 1.5mm x 2.5mm at 5'. Divergence was not accurately measured but is not that much more than what you get with the Hi-power lens.
I got 157mW @ 1" and 129mW @ 5'
That's a loss of about 28mW or 22% at a distance of only 5'

Let's estimate that the 405-G-1 lens is a little better... even at 11% loss at 5' that would be a 14mW decrease in power. With an 8X pushing 400mW... a 10% loss would be 40mW.
Then, if you factor in the divergence at 25' you're probably losing close to 12-14% of the power. Since the beam diameter will be larger, the power density will be lower, decreasing the burning power even more. But this is just an estimate, I don't have my Hi-power lens anymore.

Edit:
Aixiz 405nm glass lens:
140mW @ 1"
137mW @ 5'
Less than 3% loss

Well other factors play in, It could be that I just suck at cleaning lens which I assume would cause more splash and worse divergence. I was getting about a .25"-.3" dot at ~40-50ft. but that was using a mirror which could have also increased divergence(it was a hard drive platter). I will have to do my own testing too but thanks for some numbers to work with RA. Jayrob could you be so kind as to repeat his test with one of your lenses?
