Any one seen this? Axixz Glass lens for 405 nm

^ i know what you mean, i done the same in the past, no reply ..... sent him another question also for this module , want to see if there's a reply now, otherwise no deals (i don't buy something that don't have clearly indicated shipment costs ..... i already seen in ebay fraud items with 50$ price and 150$ shipment fees :p)
 





I asked the seller for the cost of shipping to UK for lense/lense assembly and he told me it would be $6 and $1.65 insurance, this was 1st class international shipping. I agree about it being a pain when shipping isnt clearly shown but he says UK was removed due to problems with shipping lasers here.
 
I tested this lens on a PHR and got interesting results:
Un-coated Aixiz Acrylic: 118mW
650nm coated Aixiz glass: 110mW
???nm coated Aixiz glass: 124mW

Maybe it was just an error on the manufacturers part, but I don't really mind.
it makes me wonder if I'm the only one that got a lens like this...

I also have observed several 5-7% BluRay power increases like your best lens, on my LPM.

They also have the "characteristic yellow AR coating" like you described.

Others have disputed it, but now you also have seen the same BR increase.

In general, though, the Aixiz plastic lenses are very inconsistent (50 cent lens

).

If they have been used over 150mw, they are usually partially damaged.

The seller in the OPs post has nothing to do with "lasers4u". The original link is to buy directly from Aixiz, which I recommend over buying from any other seller.

I know Chuck (owner of Aixiz) personally, and I can vouch for the quality of this and any of his products. Also, the customer service is typically incredible. The only thing is you might have to email him a few times before you get a response, but he is pretty busy..

There are a lot of folks out there hyping up the "modded" 405nm lenses, but from what I've seen along with your boost in power you get crap beam quality (based on pictures I've seen, no firsthand experience). When using Aixiz glass lenses coated for 660nm I get higher beam quality than I get from any other lens. I would expect no less from the same lens coated for 405nm.

Speaking only for myself here, I have absolutely no use for extra power if it comes at the cost of beam quality. I will gladly accept any deficit in power output between this 405nm and a "modded" 405nm if I gain beam quality since in most cases when dealing with lasers beam quality is more important.

Do you have examples of beam with the 405-G-1 lense etc, showing what you mean? Sure it must be nice having higher power output, but I agree that if the beam quality suffers noticeably then this needs to be considered when deciding what you want from your laser.

I received three of these Aixiz lenses for 405 nm today. I had three bluray lasers handy, all with aixiz acrylic lenses. I measured a small power increase, and the beam quality is much better than with acrylic.

A PHR based handheld showed 135mW with acrylic and 145mW with Aixiz 405.
An SW based handheld read 200mW with acrylic and 215mW with Aixiz 405.
A GGW based handheld read 225mW acrylic and 240mW with Aixiz 405.

There is just one catch with these lenses. Unlike the 660nm version, these are only threaded half way up, to an o-ring, and are then a smaller diameter. The chrome aixiz focus ring will not go on these, at least not without epoxy. Makes it a little more challenging to focus if you make your hosts so that the focus ring is flush or recessed slightly in the end of the laser host.
 
My plan is to focus it to infinity and leave it, and then use a small hand-held lens for burning or whatnot.

A smaller beam gives you increased burning ability .

The bare lenses are under $30,
. if you install them yourself.

Quality lenses only "reproduce the exact image" from the Laser Diode.

Beam shaping can be done ...,
but it is generally more expensive.

The term "higher quality " is questionable in this context, given that they detract severely from beam quality. I do understand what you're saying here, but I still stand by my original position that IMO beam quality is far more important than "burning power". The serious laser systems that people pay $50,000 for don't cost that much because they burn stuff good (unless you're talking about machining lasers). They cost that much because the beam specs are incredible and they are stable that way.

To each their own, however. Nothing wrong with pursuing an inexpensive means to get more power that doesn't involve "pot modding" or anything like that..

billg519's results with this lens only show 6.6% to 7.5% power increase.

At ~$35 from Ebay finished auctions, it doesn't offer much power improvement.

Here is another quote by Milos:
Aixiz acrylic with open back = 261mW
Aixiz 405 AR glass Lens Prototype#1 = 275mW

This new glass lens from Aixiz lets 81.4% light through (blocking 18.6%)
It is only 5.4% increase in output over standard Aixiz acrylic with open back.

This seems to be multi element assembly just like standard aixiz glass lens, but AR coated to improve 405nm transmission.
