Fantastic!
Have you LPM'd it with the 3 element lens?

What about the beam, is it visible on the day sky (or am I asking too much)?

Jordan, rip that diode in your copper big boy out and throw one of these in there.

NICE!!!
Thanks Jordan, I needed my "laser****" fix for today, and this definitely qualifies!
I wonder how close to 520nm these stay when pushed to 3A+?

wow, much impressive

Can't wait till the price drops!

How is the brightness compared to 445nm 9mm diodes?

Well if it isn't the big-time hot-shot gallium-nitride himself in all it's glory! Thanks DTR for the tests sir  this is an amazing diode, 1.5W Peak that's a pretty darn good output. I'm guessing 2.2Amps (long life) and 2.75 (Absolute max) for a diode this expensive enthusiast currents 3A+ is out of the question.

From Nichia:
The optical output power, voltage and the
wall-plug efficiency at the forward current of cw
1.5 A were 1.01 W, 4.76 V and 14.1% at 25 °C,
respectively.. . . The output powers of blue LDs and green LDs
were 3.75 W and 1.01 W, and the wall plug efficiencies
were 38.5% and 14.1%, respectively.

At 1 watt output, this LD will dissipate 6 WATTS of heat due to it's lower efficiency.

This is beyond the capability of most handheld devices.

From dissipation work I have done with multi-emitter UV lights,

this will require about 2/3 of a pound of aluminum in a light.

I would be very cautious in regard to overdriving.

The 1W Green Nichia LD dissipates 273% more heat than the new 445nm LD's per watt @ rated power.

Don't lose a premium laser diode.

Finally the 1Watt green diode laser has arrived. Most impressive output at 1.3Watt of green light !

Exciting times of green laser forestry ahead of us:). Introduced with elegance and proper teasing the right way to this very laser-holic community, DTR:beer:.

We are waiting for an introduction of the very first complete and personal 520nm 1W+ build:wave:.

Who is it going to be:D?

i've said it often and i just have to repeat - Jordan, you are indeed the man! thanks for your dedication to the hobby here. i've been following the thread on these at pl too. i'm thrilled to see the divergence of these diodes. hope someone does a test with a 3 element. i've always liked the beam/spot specs with that lens.
once price goes down i see me running one at around 2A with a 3 element to get 1W of pure 520 green fire. such a low vf too compared to the other 520 diodes

My guess is DTR, ricktrent, lazeerer or rhd

Not I - I'm still wrestling with emotional side of that price tag. I'm building a driver for these new series green and blues, but I haven't pulled the rip cord on actually ordering one yet.

I think lazeerer is waiting for the price tag to drop as well. He's not someone to pay top dollar for rare/expensive stuff :p

Who ever sells the first 520 1W green build, i'll buy it ^^

Thank you for the quick info DTR, i love it!
