I was informed today that the current Director of the ambulance district I work for will be leaving by the end of the month. He applied for, and got hired at a different job. Due to financial problems and the stress/family strain that comes with it, he's calling it quits after 4 short months.
I have expressed interest and been assured that the job will be mine. This is a tremendous opportunity for me career wise, as NOBODY ends up Director of an entire district after 5 years of service and especially at only 28 years old.
This district is in dire financial trouble, owing a lot of money to the IRS due to poor management and oversight. Assuming I can turn it around and get us financially "healed" it would secure my career, and boast my reputation
This will take a LOT of work however. I will essentially be working Monday-Thursday 8am-4pm, and be running ambulance calls periodically throughout the day on those day, and then be working 24 hour shifts, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So working 7 days a week, I will literally have no time for lasers.
I'm hoping I can fix this place, and run a stable district for the next 30 some years. This is what career medics shoot for, and its being offered to me just a year from being licensed as a Paramedic so it's something I cannot pass up, even if it fails.
Thus, I'll be trying to sell off what I have over the next 2 weeks as I will not have time to sell any of it after the end of this month.
