Testing of the New 650nm/660nm 5W Diode.!

Not sure but it should easily fit a small one maybe 4 cm2. Lazeerer posted a link to some tecs, but I cant find it - will look. $15 is still a good price and I think youll have a lot of interest... I dont know if Bigboys are larger, but they might also be an option?

Couldn't hurt to look around more. I did initially find some really nice 2x and 3x 32650 torches. Look like mushrooms
I did do a search for 3x18650 lights but they pretty much all showed the extended skinny ones. Pretty much just skinnier 32650 torches.

It's difficult, but I try to find the manufacturer rather than a supplier.

EDIT: Oh good luck in moving. That can be a real pain. Not to mention another country. I just can't imagine going to the post office with 100 packages :o Would be interesting that's for sure

Well, I was gearing up to buy a Mastech 5A DC power supply but now that we've reached diodes at 7A, my plans are foiled. Now I have to consider a 10+A system. Even then, I have to wonder how long will it be before this range is also surpassed?

This is shaping up to be a seriously expensive hobby.

Worth every dime though

I just ordered a 10A off ebay for $140 shipped.. I was, like you, going to buy a 5A for $88 but then decided to just go for the higher Amps straight up to stop me from having to upgrade again in a few months.. If you want the link pm me..

Drool.......Dual build with a 2+watt 445.
--purplegasm--

But I suppose I'd need a 445 with FAC to match the beam of these reds. Where there's a will.....

Hmmm, now you've really got me thinking. I've got access to a good binocular microscope @ work (much of my regular job involves working with tweezers under the microscope at 400-600 x) and I've got some optical adhesive (made for gluing lenses together to make couplets or triplets etc.) that sets up when exposed to strong light between 470 and 365 nM. Line up the FAC optic with the active layer of the laser diode die then turn it on at low power to set the adhesive. I think I'd want to try it on an LED'd diode first to practice my technique but it might be possible. Any body got a dead diode I can play with?

WOW a 5 Watt red! That's amazing. And just when I thought I was starting to know something.
