I was so close to ordering one from you but I decided at the last minute to get the Pocket 490 from Sanwu. So hopefully you’ll still have these in the near future for build. :D

Very nice. Would expect an easily defined color difference with the eye plus a shift in color sound a camera comparison shot although my bet is the colors won't show up correctly on almost any camera without trying a lot of different backgrounds or some kind of post editing. Comparison pics are good for showing how much of a difference there is to help deciding if you want/need the particular wavelength. Like how I want/need this one but I also need to find the $..... Would expect a very big difference between it and the cool 503nm.

I have a 505 and this 490 looks way blue from what I see, I expect it will look a lot more blue, without any green is possible.

Have you used this > https://academo.org/demos/wavelength-to-colour-relationship/

I know pc monitors are not perfect but this is what I got for 503 vs. 490

490 is still pretty blue. Though it will look fairly green if you're comparing it to a deeper blue... At least in my experience with it

Hi, Jordan. If t isn't too much trouble, could you also show the dot using the stock acrylic lens? I would like to see how it compares to the others you have shown. :thanks:

These diodes look pretty blue to me. I have looked at 20 of them now and even the 491nm are still pretty blue. I have some diodes that are under 488nm and should stay close to 488nm even after being driven at 275 mA, if heat sinked properly. I plan on offering some of the 488nm diodes for sale. I also have drivers on the way and can set them up in a module with a driver set to any current from threshold to 300 mA. If anyone is intesrested, send me a PM and we can discuss it. :thanks:

Yep that’s wright, and I asked Andrew earlier today if he can take some pics to show this thread,

Hi everyone,
Sorry for the late reply, I'm super busy atm and haven't had a chance to reply to Billy's request.
I haven't read through this discussion properly but I'll come back and read through it all later when I get time.
For now, here are a few quick shots of the 488nm dot that Billy asked me to take for him, of his magnificent build.
Hope it helps you guys, let me know if you need more info.
Cheers
RB

It certainly looks like it has been masked. By masking, you can remove all splash and artifacts. It does cut off the outside of the diameter of your beam, though.

Decided to browse the shop and saw the new arrival! One on order. Is there a box shaped reflection with these sharps?

Hello everyone,

I tested my first Sharp 490nm, and I give you the raw beam pattern from the copper module without any lens ( @ 275mA with a large copper cooling ) :

raw488.jpg

Can I get your beam pattern to compare ? I found this pattern not very smooth - too many diffraction line like we get on multimode diode...

Any other singlemode I have are better / more smooth.

This is normal for this Sharp ?

It’s the same on most of Sharp diodes. I’ve got same pattern on my 495nm diode.

I want to put this diode in a two 18650 host, but my driver can't take 8.4 VDC, anyone know where to buy some dummy batteries which cost less than 10 dollars delivered? That's all I can find on Amazon.com so far, eBay has one listed, but it doesn't have DC pass through, like what good is it?
