This could contribute to the aberrations we see...

I noticed this with the 495s.
They have an interesting diffraction pattern at the edges of the ellipse that, when collimated, produces the rectangular shape.
If we knew how it was produced it may be possible to control it.
The problem with masking is that doing so reduces the output significantly, obviously.

Is it at all possible the diode window is too small and the beam clips itself within the diode? Did anyone dare decan any of the new sharp diodes yet?

Just received the sharp 490 today and it is really a unique and wonderful color, sky blue with the slightest hint of green, using a 3 element lens as G2 left a large box shadow.

I will likely switch to a smaller host, maybe one in the pic or even smaller.

It's visible in daylight ( spot ) but this is a late night and indoor delight.

Here's a couple late dusk shots, not dark just yet.

The old standard and a good quality beam, the 532nm DPSS and the new 490 direct with 3 element, the MM aspect of the 490 shows but none the less I like it, a lot

Here's one now that the sunlight is gone, BTW I notice June bugs are out early this year. This one is running where DTR set it, 150ma IINM, I think I would also like to try one @ 275ma
Note: There is a faint square offset artifact that I can see indoors on a near wall, but across my yard it's not visible, my camera doesn't seem to pick it up, or the slight green tint in the beam that my eye can see.

Thanks guys keep them coming. Had to run to the post to drop off some outgoing but did add a sharp option in 12mm modle with two element glass lens.

I just went to do a few of the refunds for the ones I knew for sure and was left questioning a bit by the way it is set up and the limited list of reasons for sending refunds. It is not exactly clear if a partial refund i would remove the order count and/or if it would strike against the order defect rate.

I am going to do some digging in the TOS on that real quick. Most of orders I am seeing I do know I have some recent paypal purchases and if you would not mind taking the refund against that let me know int the message with your info.

Amazon has been known to have a bit of a sensitive spidey sense. I wonder if this mingh trip something that sniffs out of the ordinary events as fishy and If I just start refunding all these I wonder if they freak out. Sudden surge in orders and then partial refunds on them all. I guess in a way I am trying to manipulate my stats but not sure if it is in a way they would have issue with as it is generating more revenue and technically it is the main goal of a seller to get that stat up but would be a bummer if the systems automatically does something. Probably best not to mention this offer in any messages over there regardless if I do the refund there or with a send money paypal or refund against a previous paypal order.

All this I just started thinking of so no worries either way if you prefer it against the order on Amazon I will do it even as I said I would regardless. Just let me know if anyone has any thoughts on that or any experience with promotions similar to this and selling on Amazon. Wold be nice if I could generate promo cods that give the discount upfront. I will see if that have that as well.

I don't believe I used PP for any of my orders. They either went on my bank account or credit card. You needn't refund by PP that way. I hadn't purchased much recently from Amazon except for books. I was surprised to find I was charged 10% sales tax as that usually doesn't happen.

Yea Amazon should be doing that on anything you order now due to a law passed in Washington state requiring sales tax be collected by amazon on all orders by residents there. Other juridisticoitons are considering the same measures. I only collect tax on Missouri orders. No worries I am probably worrying about nothing as I really cant see any way it wold be against any rules to run a promotion that generates more sales for them only thing I am trying to get clear is if it will remove teh sale count as refunded and/or hit the defect rate. I will make sure half the sales tax is taken off was well even if it comes out of my end.:beer:
