That’s really good to know. Every time I turn mine on I assume it’ll blow up. Hah! I can’t get over that host in the pic. Beautiful. How much would you charge just for that host? Host with leads?Hi,
220mA is fine some are even fine at 275 tops and will last , Built this one at 260mA / 135mW .

I really cant tell you how reassuring that is. ill probably be using it more now that I know this. crazy to think you can get 473 out of a diode nowadays.I have built many pointers with the Sharp single mode diodes we've gotten from 473nm up to 510nm. Many more than I kept for myself. They all survive drive currents up to 300 mA quite well. My 477nm build and my 488nm build are my favorites and get a lot on run time from me. As long as you don't drive them over 300 mA I wouldn't worry about them.
crown jewels for sure! that's the only thing that always kept me from purchasing a DPSS 473nm was they have relatively low power and the darn warm up time I heard was several min? psh yeah I bet youre kicking yourself for that.I wish I had held onto more of those 473nm to 480nm diodes Sharp put out that we got first. I only kept the one and then they were gone. I never repeated that mistake. I kept at least two of all the rest that came out.
