:lasergun:

The Gball out put is not bad at all, it's comparable to a G7 lens. This is a nubm06 with Gball as it came to me box stock.

But for some real sickness think of this only add a double convex after the block, but yes stack 2 fully corrected blocks then a big BE setup.

I am literally drooling now.

If you do a GB on these NUBM08E diodes, what price per unit are you talking about?

I already started one and it will be shared cost, what we pay for the block and if I buy a temp plate or who ever want's to, I'm cool with it if someone has a temp plate and wants to take delivery, the idea is we all get the best deal and share the cost so we all get to play for the best price possible, I am not out to make anything on it, I just want to buy a couple diodes without buying a whole block myself, I like to taste the milk before buying the farm.

EDIT: You know it's a blessing we didn't blow 400 each on old 6w diodes when 9w diodes are out and 10w are around the corner. Group buy on THESE?[/COLOR]

Back up this statement. What are you basing the claim that "9w diodes are out" on?

I don't see them at the link you provided. You sent us a link to an eBay listing that is 36W / 8 = 4.5W

Might want to read a bit closer. The item listing says it's a NUBM07E. Have you seen reference to NUBM08E anywhere online? When I google NUBM08E, I get exactly 3 hits.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

That's the advertised block rating, or it has been and I am basing it on the fact the NUBM06 advertised at 32W per block just tested at almost 8W so a 12.5% increase in advertised block power I conservatively estimated by our usual overdriven factor of before it folds back.

It is yet to be seen, that is why I suggested a group buy, so we can each taste the milk before buying the whole cow.

But the number is based on the predecessors number and tested output.

I will clarify by saying no guarantees are made, but I know I want some and am willing to taste the milk, if others wish to speculate as well then join in, I did leave a lot unstated expecting fellow hobbits to have a working knowledge of how we overdrive our repurposed diodes.

In short it's an educated guess based on past observation.

I saw that NUBM07E listed way down in the offering and figured it was a typo as the rest of the offering definitely said it was a NUBM08E. I took RC's word that these were able to be driven at 9 watts.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I should clarify, estimated based on past observations, I don't have one in hand as yet.

If its a block of 470nm at 36 vs 28 watts then wow, even better, but 99.9% it's the classic typo and that's what I messaged someone else earlier and why I didn't bring it up yesterday.

No guts no glory, I'm in for 2 and my share of a hot plate.

Also I never meant to mislead, I assume everyone is reading along with what's going on, but I will reiterate and say speculated 9w or more diodes.

I try to be careful what I say and cover my backside with qualifier words but I got excited.

I know others go to great expense to verify and that cost money, so I understand and I stand corrected and say SPECULATED 9w diodes.

@ DTR: It sort of had that copy look, but you never know.
So I assume the lumen rating is total bs as well? Shame I expect China to get into the game and cut prices as they have been assembling for a while now, maybe that's why the Japanese companies stay true to Nichia and avoid Osrams offerings?

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

For those of you who are nutz about expanding your beam for ultra low divergence, I found some very nice Edmund Optics 7 inch diameter PCX lenses on ebay. The focal length is close to 10.5 inches, last I remember when measuring it, should have written it down. They are awesome high quality lenses, even if made for Edumund in China, but no AR coating.

The FL of the lens is not a perfect match for a NDG7475 520nm diode because at infinity focus about 10% of the beam (from the raw output of the uncorrected diode) overshoots the edges of the lens, this means the overshoot would be even worse for something like the NUBM44 or a more divergent diode, but if using another lens to partially collimate the output of your diode, such as an out of focus 6mm lens of some type which are common for our laser pointers, it could be made to work without overshooting, but the loss of the extra lens could be greater than loosing 10 percent from overshooting.

If you have a diode you want to use with this, just spot its output on the wall 10.5 inches from the diode and see how big a spot it makes to know how close a match this lens will be for you, if over 7 inches, it's too small, if 5 inches too big, not that it wouldn't work and has some benefit if too big; I've found oversized lenses produce far smaller wing artifacts for our diodes with rectangle shaped outputs.

177 8mm Diameter PCX Large Condenser Lense | eBay

The photograph of the lens on ebay does not do it justice! This is a wonderfully crafted lens with a very nice edge and comes in it's original EO box wrapped up very nicely inside. I wouldn't want to pay the original price for one of these, I am sure of that. I bought a total of three of them, sadly his price for shipping multiple lenses doesn't give much of a break, I'm not happy with that, but I bought them anyway after seeing how nice the first one I purchased was.

Don't think a huge lens like this doesn't mean you could not adjust your beam down to a very small point for burning, you can if moving the lens a couple of inches further away! Although perhaps the closest you could focus into a small spot would be 6 feet away.

That thing looks like it's had a hard life. For that kind of money, I'd expect it to be a little more complete, turnkey.
