Will the previously discussed method work for these? I don't see why not.

Yes a spider box would work fine for running one of those. I run my ILT krypton at home that way.

For my MG HeNe, I used a flat end screwdriver to scoop out as much of the rubber stuff as I could from the outside before I took out the endcaps using a knife and stuck the knife down the barrel to dislodge the remaining rubber. I also used the knife to cut slots in the set screws and used the knife as a screwdriver to remove the screws :p my tools were all one and the same

So for the Coherent, all of the spots are rubber? No set screws and no potting? I'm assuming the endcaps are also glued in similarly to how MG HeNe's are?

I understand the 2214 and 2213 are all basically the same Argon Ion air-cooled tube. The 2213s run hotter at higher current to acheive greater output. Something many of us do to our 2214s. :evil: Were the mirrors swapped on this single-line to multi-line, I'd be surprised if outperformed the 2214-40ML by very much.

Sadly, the listing does not appear to include PSU or cooling and the shipping seems high. Like double what I think it should be.

Edit: one of the listing images indicates it was "disassembled 04.11.99" which may suggest it hasn't operated for 13 years or so.

The tubes for the 2213 are indeed larger if the product specifications are anything to go by, the longitudinal mode spacing is lower and in the relatively low gain 458nm flavor, they offer heads up to 25mW while the 2214 series only offers that wavelength at a power of 4mW

I am fairly certain the 2213s will not operate with a 2114 power supply since the tube voltage is higher. I'm not sure those are the exact numbers, but XX13 and XX14 are not compatible.

That is quite the tantalizing tube.

Though with two more Ar's on the way, I think I must also pass. If only it worked on the 2214 PSU, I'd snag it.

I suppose that having the 220V variety of the 2214-ML PSU, serves no merit? Probably not..

If Metrologic ML810 Helium Neon Laser 105 125 Vac | eBay stays low, then I'm calling dibs =p A nice contained unit ^_^

EDIT: Although, actually, it's just a plug'n'play and the person said that he tested that it powered on and "not tested further"... so did he or did he not see a laser come out?
