New 3.8mm red Diodes on the Block.

Given the package, these are most likely used in laptop optical drives.
In projection and the TV's, from what ive read, they tend to lean toward
a lower wavelength.

Regardless, these are a nice find, finally a single mode 650 class 4 :eg:

Why would a laptop drive need such a powerful laser? o.o

DVD burners don't need class 4 reds, so I don't get it.

Its just a guess, but makes the most sense to me. Perhaps a high speed
version was being R&D'd but was killed by BR and this surplus is surfacing.

Not sure, but these are single mode, and that most of the time is destine
for an optical drive of sorts.

The original SMOC's had 708nm NIR and 650nm red in one diode. Perhaps
these are from a sled that we have not encountered yet from a bluuray drive.

Good find Man!
I'm wondering how many hours your're searching to find new staff

What do you think for a Group Buy? If you do I'm in.

What do you guys mean by "it has wings"? The only thing that comes to mind is the odd shape of a multimode beam, but this is single mode.

Thanks Guys.

Just an Update the Diode is Still Running fine at 760mA.

I will have the Max Currant these can take for you all later tonight.

I mention guys if these SAMPLES in testing check out to be good, I will try to get more for you all.:)

Read more, post less. :yabbmad:

There is a plethora of typical red output images.

Looks like you cant kill these guys.

What do you guys think.?

I dint see no Benifit over 800mA.
