New 3.8mm red Diodes on the Block.

With Red It is much Harder to Pick Up the Difference.

You can tell a Difference in the Dots and In Fog.

Its Not a Big Difference but it something.

Another nice suprise! Looks like I'm going to have to start grabbing some smaller modules soon. Looking forward to more of your epic builds using one of these. :D

Yeah. Hopefully AthoT does another GB. I missed it.:(

SO I have to make my own modules and Let me tell you module are really not fun to make.

Hopefully these 2 sample 405nm 3.8mm diodes i have on order are going to be good.:)

They are suppose to be the Highest Power out right now. SO Iam really looking forward to those too.

great find man! i'm way into red too, when i think laser it's a red one....at about 650nm

Nice find Angelos. :gj: I love seeing new tech forwarding our hobby. You're a true pioneer bro.

I will admit that the aspect of a high power 405nm 3.8mm makes me all tingly inside.

Very nice to see there are still developments in these single mode reds. With the end of the dvd era i wouldn't expect too much anymore, but these seem to be a good find.

I wonder what the price will be when these get rolling at some volume though - $30 seems a lot, but if that comes down nicely we could have a new red workhorse.

Love Red. 685nm >300mW i would Love to see.:) People say it looks the same as 660nm but i can see a difference. I must be special but i see a difference. 685nm is my favorite.:)

angelos, i pm'd you, waiting for your reply :)

Iam getting there.

I know you like your 405.;)

I thought the same. I was Looking for the Smocs dual WL and i know they are hard to come by so i figure why not give it a GO. When I seen they dint LED at 600mA i new there was something different about these.:)

Please remember that is Sample Pricing. Samples always cost alot more when there was only 10 diodes available.

If the guy that i got them from can order more iam hoping to see them around the LPC Price range.

But it might be Vapor wear right now. I dont know. I really know nothing.

It was More like "Hey you want to try some new red diodes out. (Sure Why not)" Type of thing.

Should be able to do a GB on them.:) Per more testing results and so long these are going to be able for purchase. I have No say in that. But i will do my best for you guys.:)

I may need to acquire one of these. I already have a host with a SmOC that Ehgemus made me a while back. I'll rip that diode out and throw this one in then crank up the current a bit. Does this have the infamous wings?

Beam specs are Exactly like the Red we Have now. They still have the wings :( but i guess we will never see a red without them.

What I'm wondering is what they used the diodes for originally...

Since DVD burning technology isn't moving forward at all, what could they possibly need this high of a powered red for?

These are not sled pulls, so they might be used in labbys, or projectors. Or made for a large company like CNI to use in hand helds.

Do you know who manufactured it? If it's Mitsubishi it might be one used in their fancy TV's.
