First and Third Person shooter Games thread

Portal 2 is on the way...
I bought it through a third party because it was almost 10€ cheaper* than through Steam... :undecided: The count is now at 192 PC games collected over the past 15 years

*all but 9 of my 192 games were paid for making it a total cost of ... drumroll please ... €7830  which makes our laser addiction almost sound affordable...

Nic amount but many people lost by far more than that on 1 woman in less than a year

I figured since I actually have time now to come back to the forums, I decided read through some of the old threads I had interest in that weren't dead, and to my surprise has no one has talked about Battlefield 3 in this thread?!?!?

It's gonna be epic. 64 player servers for pc and 24 for console. Here is a 12 minute trailer, single player campaign only. YouTube - Battlefield 3 - Full Length "Fault Line" Gameplay Trailer Make sure to watch in 1080, remember, this is all actual gameplay pre-alpha.

I beat it on the 360 already. There are a lot more things to interact with to get though all the levels. A lot of them laser beams you have to redirect. :D

I'd be intersted. We need to figure out a good time though. I get home from work about 5 PM EST(US east coast).

That hardly work for me at all, by that time it will be 11 PM where I am (GMT + 2 h), so not to disturb everyone around me I wont be able to use microphone that late. Anyway, my steam name is forssa1.

I try not to get my hopes too high since the originaly had it slated for Nov of this year andits now pushed to I believe MAr of 2012 unlessthe moved it again, also borderlands 2 is shaping up, Battle field 3 and MW3, and spec ops the line which also keeps moving back on the release date, and I think GOW 3 which seems pretty well set to release.

I've played many FPS's including:

Crysis 1
Crysis 2
CS source
CS 1.6
CoD2
CoD3
CoD4
CoD5
CoD6
CoD7 (you can probably tell im a fan about now)
CoD8 (on pre-order)
Halo 1
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo 3 ODST
Halo reach

And a bunch more that I cant remember ATM...

Anyways... Who ever wants to have a little LPF competiton on Call of duty 4 or 6 Post in this thread and I will add you to the list :)

Well as I said to my friend, when Mass Effect 3 comes out, I'm taking a drive to the local police station to cancel my ID card, place of living and birth certificate, and all other documents.
Nobody needs me until I finished ME3. 10 times at least.

Just yesterday I finished Homefront.
I gotta say to you guys, this is one great game. The only thing they could've polished up a bit are the loduness and positioning of sounds in game, but everything else is great!

Voiceacting is on the level, scenes are dramatic, graphics are beautiful, and gunfire sounds are among the most realistic ones I've ever heard of in a game. I would've taken some screenshots but Xfire refuses to recognise the game. On my next playthrough on hardest difficulty I'll take some with Fraps.

In the meantime, here are some googled 'shots:

A scene in game actually looks like that mid-play ^^

Ah, there's a surprisingly low amount of normal in-game shots on google. I'll take my own soon.

In the meantime, METRO 2033 anybody? Pretty darn good! Though, incredibly un-optimised, throws my computer down to it's knees. Can't play on higher settings than "Normal" quality and 1280x800. Why aren't we given a choice to select our own advanced options, rather than just 4 presets?

I thought Homefront was ok, I'm the guy who plays games on easy (which makes them mondame) then if the game is good in lame mode I'll play it threw on the increasing dificulties for example I just finished Crysis 2 weeks ago for 360, did the same for HUnted demons forge and bayonetta, MW1, and 2, never got around to doing it for black ops, or any of the halo games because I usually went into multiplayer, Duke Nukem forever Bombed out for me since it felt like a game that should have came out back in '00-'02.

Also Indeed Fenzir I just finished reading inside gamers reveiw of the demo, which makes it sound pretty good, the only down side so far is you're playing thrrough as different people, I'll miss siren, hopefully she'll show up enough and or they will include a character similar to her, being able to pop in and out of battle that was awsome!

P.S. Don't forget teh awsome captions on some of the weapons,

Hm, I always play the games first on "Medium" or "Normal" difficulty, because it's usually how the game was supposed to be played. Except maybe "Far Cry" which is almost impossible for casual gamer on such difficulty, and "Mass Effect" should maybe be played on "Veteran" , out of
-Easy
-Normal
-Veteran
-Hardcore
-Insanity

Normal is maybe too easy.

Also, for the record - I hate game reviewes and reviewers.
Usually I find to have totally different opinion on games than review (which are often contraditory among themselves).

One site rates HomeFront 4 out of 5 stars, another gives it poor 20% or something claiming "Slow gameplay" and get this, "unrealistic sounds".

If you want unrealistic sounds, try Call of Duty. Or Far Cry 2.

Homefront had incredible sounds. One of rare games where you get the feeling that game developers had actually seen and fired a gun in real life.

Unlike, say Far Cry 2 where you get this cr*p - Cookie to one who first tells what's wrong with this picture:

^ do you mean, except the fact that the rear targeting mark is "a little bit" too low ? :p :D

EDIT: or you mean all the other errors ? :p
