What I have responded to now has been in recent light of your current posts. Those posts which basically are "I told you so!" posts. And the "I told you so" was not expressed in an adult like manner, more of a negative nancy kind of way.
If your posts had been expressed in a mature context without the unnecessary name calling, then I would have had no problem with it.
I'm delivering criticism to people who can't be taught simple logic and who can only give irrelevant responses. Besides, we're talking about a bunch of hypocrites who wag their "lasers are not toys" fingers while using their other hand to play with a cheap 50mW pen. I think this whole maturity argument is kind of redundant.
Towned, you´re an idiot. At least this is the word people would call you here in Austria.
ALL of us knew that they are not definitely 635nm, but that there is a chance. The chance became smaller and smaller after other guys received their DX reds.
I'm an idiot who was right all along. You're an idiot who still thinks there was any chance of getting a 635.
It was a gamble. A gamble where people couldn´t lose. There was always a price behind the curtain. And here the booby prize is a overspec 50mW 650nm.
OK, why don't you all just go out and buy a can of pepsi? $12 worth of cans. There are 10,000 MP3 players ready to be given away in exchange for the ring pull of a lucky can. At least I think you can win an MP3 player; there wasn't any mention of a competition on the can that I bought but there was a number underneath the ring pull. Hey, you know there's a
risk you might not win one but your booby prize is the pepsi you bought. Feel like trying it out just because I brought it up? I'll just take my advertising fee from Pepsi.
I don´t see your reason for being gleeful, but it must be something deeper inside of you.
Although I wasn't really bragging when I mentioned getting a 635 myself, I still was right all along and gives me bragging rights; that's how it works. It's important for other people too because they might just learn to think, realise being wrong is overrated and stop making stupid mistakes. I think it's better than acting like an idiot and relying on people not to call them out on it. But some people don't like that and they get butthurt instead.
Jesus. Is this all about "winning the game?"
ITS A THIRTEEN DOLLAR LASER.
And you know what I got for my $13?
A THIRTEEN DOLLAR LASER.
And this is some broad statement on a "consumerist over-zealous society" ?
Give me a freaking break. It's not a paradigm shift. It's not a social statement. It's not "meta".
What about, say, $260 to maybe* get something worth around $1000 based on rumours from Blord? It can all be scaled up or down but it's equally a bad gamble* (*I use these terms loosely). Is the concept of principle alien to you?
I believe I said "
overly consumerist" and "community": as in localised, at least, to this forum. I'm not going to get into politics here. Yes, I believe that is a sufficient description of people who buy based on rumours. I see it, I look down on it and I call it.
You know what I -did- get for my $20 gamble on ebay a few weeks ago?
Yeah. a 40mW 635nm diode that I built into a nice 18650 host.
And now for my $13 gamble I have a $13 650nm laser coming. Seeing as... my brother just asked me if I could get him a 650nm pointer..... uh.. I'm failing to see the...
nevermind....
.... Next?
OK, so? If I was ranting about
everybody who took place in this group buy then what you said there might actually be relevant. I don't have some sick phobia of people actually buying things, you know. I don't come on this forum, troll through all the group buys and blindly insult everyone who takes part.
Try CTRL+A and backspace instead. It would have been as if you had never typed it.
Hmm. The only person I see with their panties in a knot over these being 650 and not 635 is you and I don't even see your name on the list of people who participated.
I have to join the herd to criticise the herd?
Let's see in this thread I've posted
"I'm interested. PM to be sent shortly. Even if it's not 635 I could use a red pen to complete my RGV pen set."
"... $12 is a good price for a decent red pen and if it's a 635 that's even better. Thanks again for organizing the GB for those of us in the States!"
"Bummer they're not 635 but everyone knew they likely wouldn't be but an over speced 50+ mw pen for $20 shipped is still a great deal. Thanks for organizing this and hopefully they all clear customs safely."
No whining from me. In fact the only whining I've seen is from you. Everyone knew going into this GB that there was a 99.9% chance that these would be 650 and I'm fine with that. Sure I'd loved it to be a 635 but now I have my 635 DIY pen, soon to be this 650 pen, and my LOC 660 build so now with the exception of a red HeNE my red collection is complete.
Again, I'm not attacking everyone participating in the group buy. I wouldn't have been talking about you since you were looking to buy one independently from the 635 rumour.
It was the likes of qumefox that did the whining. I delivered a rant at the end that pointed out the utter stupidity of buying one as if it was a lottery ticket and then arguing with logic.
The funny thing is after reading all this ridiculous bickering the only person i see whining is TOWNES. why do u care about proving a point noone here cares about, its distasteful. furthermore the fact u care so much about other people spending a measely $20 shows your probably some little kid who doesnt get that much in his allowance.....grow up or leave.
-Nick
ps all i care about is opening that package with my 50mw in it. money WELL spent.
Go back to school, kid.
I'm not going to teach you.
This horse ain't dead. It was just tired.
