Dealextreme 50mW red is actually a 635nm red laser !!

Great that some of them arrived yet and that you´re happy with them, even if they are not 635nm ;)

Townes, I accidentally gave you a +rep. See it as a present making you feel better.

I'll try a diffraction grating later to see if the wl is ~650 as I believe, but it's not too important to me really ... -Glenn

Why compare it with another laser, when, with a diffraction grating (as long as u know how many lines/mm it has) u can just do the math and get an almost spot on (if not really spot on) wavelength??
Wiki ftw xD

Thank you sir, the laser made it to Florida in great shape. A lot brighter than I thought it would be. I already had green and violet pens (IQS) so this completes the set. Not really bothered about hte wavelength, just happy to have a nice red pen. If I need a 632 fix I can fire up the HeNe which I love to do because it says "Hughes Aircraft Company" on the case! Anyway, Thanks again.

Robert

I also recieved my red pen laser here in Minnesota!!!

Thanks again DJNY for organizing this GB and getting it done!!!

I have also been wanting a red pen to complete my set of 405nm, 532nm, and now around 660nm pen set.

Now I need to build me a really low powered 445 in a pen, what say around 50-60mW should do nicely...

Got mine today as well. a quick test shows it arrived in working condition. I'm going to let it warm up while at dinner then find my LPM see what it comes in at.

Thanks again for organizing this. A week to come from Austria is great seeing as the damned USPS can take that long to get something coast to coast let alone across an ocean.

Got both of mine today as well, and they measure 66mW and 67mW respectively. One oddly seems to be a slightly different shade of red than the other though interestingly enough, though it's not enough of a difference to be 635. It's still around 650.. Maybe 648 or so. I'll know more when the spectrometer gets here.

I also metered mine today.

It held steady at 57mW for about three minutes, then started to drop.

The stability is suprising considering it is just a DX pen laser.

I just finished testing my pen and I have to say I'm very happy with it. It peaked at 61mw but quickly jumped down to 60 where it stayed steady with an occasional jump back to 61 then right back down to 60. Can't really complain that it "only" came in at 20% overspec. I don't have a way to officially test the wavelength but comparing it to my 635 DIY it was definitely redder but more orange than my 660 LPC. I'd like a spectrometer some day but I'm afraid to even see what they cost.

Hmm, no sign of mine yet; Phi - you did get my order right?

You also ordered one?? :undecided:

j/k

I´m sure it is going to arrive this week.

Just took a few pics while my girl was preparing my breakfast

(635nm vs 650nm)

(650nm on my daily magnesium-drink)

Thanks all for participating in this GB!!
(I may do one on TRUE 635nm diodes soon, more infos, later on)

here's mine on my nospin LPM i got in the mail today

it said 65mW but i snapped the pics on 62 and 60, stays stable at 60 a few minutes, very good for dx for sure!

Seeing all ur units im in the merge of ordering one...

I lack a red laser and i already have a newwish pen in the 405 and 532 variants...

this would close the loop!

hmmm....im really itching xD

*edit*Oh god! I really did order one just now!
