any word on the 671nm project? Also can you get the quotes for 589nm's in PGL-III-M hosts, and while you're at it ask if they can finally produce them in over 30mW (their current stated limit)? Oh and one more thing ask if they can finally start making the PGL-III-M 532nm's in >200 again? I want my 300mW! :san: peace & thanks

OK cmak, I was told the GB #7 is shipping now, and #8 will be close behind it. I'll ask all those questions, but it often works out that the only answer one or two questions a day, so it may take a bit. i believe CNI said they can do a PGL III 671nm portable but cost estimate was pretty high, and I'll look it up, and try to see if they can do better. -Glenn

Cmak, I got a PGL-III-M 671nm... but I had to wheel and deal hardcore. They want way too much for them, but man is it an awesome laser...

Glenn, PLEASE DO ask CNI about these and see if you can get a better price than I did. It was highway robbery at their initial quote. (~$1200!?).

I'm going to post a review on it soon. Do NOT get swayed by the "oh, its 671nm, that's not real visible."

My ass it isn't real visible... This thing is visible. I think due to its monochrome nature, (more narrow bandwidth than straight diodes) - all of that 150mW goes into 671nm, and the effect is just very deep red and striking. It's perceptually more 'striking' than my 212mW dilda. It does have an IR filter, and it burns anything it touches, it seems. I've yet to measure it but I have a feeling it's overspec.

Beam is pinpoint and round, too. I *will* be doing a review.

671nm DPSS is really a sleeper laser, people are overlooking them because they figure "red is boring". It isn't boring in DPSS.

Maybe you can get CNI to give us a sane price if we're going to buy a few. These are as cool as 589's, IMO.

... I'm going to have to wait for GB #9 to get my 400mW 532... Just wasn't enough time to get my cash in for #8; But, Glenn, I'm in for #9 for a 400mW 532 PGL-III-C. Put me down ahead of time for that, ok?

!!!
So does this mean I can expect a new laser in a week or so?
It's been a long wait, don't tease me!

Nice. I'll be waiting for that review. The only reds I've seen are 635nm, 645nm, and 655nm. Between them, I can't really see that much of a difference, although the shorter wavelengths are definitely a little more orange... It would be interesting to see 635nm vs. 655nm vs. 671nm.
I can't imagine the color being drastically different.

Glenn, do you have a price for the "PGL III -C-532 nm 800mW version"? I´m also interested if CNI is able to guarantee that it is up to spec. Thanks

I'll ask, but I never heard of a green PGL rated higher than >500, I do know of 808nm that high, daguin has one f.s. cheap! -Glenn

cmak, I think GB#8 is kind of like "GB#7.5", as Glenn told me that GB#9 is going to start in about 3 weeks! o_O

I gotta pick which one i wanna get my PGL-III-532 400mW in. I haven't even gotten my GB#7 lasers yet and another GB is starting!

Which I trust, are coming soon. (Thanks all for the patience!) And I have already gotten several folks in for GB #8 so that order will go out in a week. -Glenn

soo... was there a gb that went between 7 and 8 and there wasnt a thread for it or am i just tripping...

ideally I would like to order my dream laser, a >80mW 589nm in a PGL-III-M host (momentary button version) but for now they aren't quite there yet technologically. So I'm gonna see if they'll finally start making the >200mW PGL-III-M-532's again (the host is a big deal to me... regular PGL's just don't have much use to me) so I can get my dream 300-350mW Greenie. Seeing as that also might not happen quite yet, the 671nm's do seem interesting and I might get my hands on either a GLP 5-30mW or the 150mW M-Series like the one Aryntha got (if the price is right... I mean come on over 1k???). Speaking of which, would you care to share the final price you ended up buying it at?

To sum up, it is currently a wait on their side because I have the $$ and the willingness ready. Have a greasy (iPhone auto-correct... :p) day!

Peace & thanks

excuse the dp but just to clarify, CNI's current stated limits are 200mW for the M-Series 532's (they've produced >400mW & in the past...), 30mW for the M-Series 589's, and 80mW for the 589nm PGL-III-C's (in case of buying just the core and putting it in a custom host). Once again, the host is always the biggest dealbreaker for me, everything from the size to the durabilty to the button (most crucial).

peace & thanks

Hi Glenn, is it still possible to add an order before this GB goes ahead?
