4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

About the 700 mW single mode diodes: Does it mean that we will be able to drive them even at 1 W safely, as with the current 445nm diodes? IIRC the ones we use now are rated for 700 mW as well..

Possibly since they'll be made to have a long life and take a little bit of abuse due to them being in a mass produced projector. I mean the current 445nms can go up to 2 watts.

Yes true but for how many hours ( 10, 20, 50 ? ) max... they are 500mW pulsed to ~1000mW

It will likely be quite expensive to get a curve for life expectancy vs. % over driven. :(

I think we're all celebrating the wrong thing.... a laser-powered pico projector that needs 750mW of blue, should require a red laser diode with a bit more juice that the LOCs we're using, not to mention the fact that it may also make use of one of the new GREEN laser DIODES :)

single mode or not... as long as its divergence is similiar to the 140's i'd be all over a 700mW red. as for the green, damn... a green diode....never thought i'd see the day something like that gets commercialized.

hey Soraa is like 10 minutes away from me. I live in san jose, CA...fremont is just up the I-880...maybe they'll do walk-in "samples".

wasnt even thinking about the reds... but if it turns out to be true it would be a sweet little harvest one projector and a multitude of diodes :)

Go check if they will do walk in and get me a couple and I'll PP the funds to you ASAP :D

You should really consider visiting them. If I were you, I definitely would :D

Its a good time to be alive.

I'd be dumpster diving at their company looking for rejects.
