4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

GUYS GUYS...look at what you did!!!

great im gonna be smelling like electronic waste for weeks now... planning my dumpster diving trip right now. Turns out they do have an office there that people can actually go inside of. I will try tomorrow to see if a sales person or production person is willing to talk to me... if these can be bought in small amounts, a GB is a must!!

wish me luck on raiding their trash... i hope its not felony...:undecided:

That was more of a joke. A company like that would have a sealed receptacle. Plus I'm sure they recycle. There is gold, gallium, and other recyclable elements in producing diodes.

yea i know im just joking, i used to work for a company like that. they guard the garbage as much as the actually stock. i did inventory so yea, we had seal those suckers up and use marked tape so they would know if it was tampered with. you guys ever see those red box movie machines at grocery stores or 7-eleven? the ones that let you rent movies for $1. Yea i was working there when those were starting up. only thing my boss let me run off with was a few sticks of RAM... good stuff though.

but im serious about going up there and asking if samples could get gotten. that would help us get an idea for these diodes and maybe organize a group buy.

I'd go for it too, you have nothing to lose. Just make sure you dont walk in there in jeans and a t-shirt. Tell them you're interested in 500 to 1000 for a school project or something like that. The more professional you sound the better.

Honestly school project sounds a bit questionable. If we want to get some kind of half decent deal with them deciding to sell a sample to use we'll have think of something rather sophisticated to say. What about something along the lines of a diode needed for spectroscopy Analysis and experiments. Also you do realize there's a 95% chance you'll have to sign a NDA and perhaps other stuff.

I meant at a university level.

Obviously use your own discretion. I would mention you are interested in bulk diodes, and want to experiment in the visual field. Like the projectors they are designed for.

I was also thinking that. I just read that Soraa was already sampling them so we may be in luck. I'm guessing its not gonna be cheap for one.

I emailed them. Besides the obvious, I have an application in solid rocket motor ignition.

Where did you read they were sampling them? Just curious. :)

It was in a older news article. But this yellow diode information I found has got me wondering. What if this is their secret they're working on now just like nichica was with he first 405nms and the 445nm?

I found something here.

Could be.

Yes that was the one article I just read. I'm wondering guys should we ask them about a yellow sample and see how they react? I'm thinking they're at or past the prototype stage for yellow.

I think people being concerend with high powered Blues need to maybe not think of it the way they do. If you don't want one, don't get one. And the ones responsible for harvesting, be responsible sellers, because there might be some that have responsible and good uses. I wouldn't be afraid to see someone like T_J, moh, Dave, Jerry, Jeff, Jay, Trevor, Benm, Garoq, and others with one. You can't say you aren't a little interested in seeing 4W+ of blue beam.

That being said, I would love to see these come to reality.
