Well, do you? I joined this forum back in 2010 after just learning that high powered lasers were in existence and being awed by the thermal properties of the laser beam. After seeing this site and the knowledge therein I quickly made up a username.

Now that my interests are focused more on beam characteristics and collecting the wavelengths, while I do enjoy lighting matches, I sometimes regret the infantile nature of my username. I wish I had chosen something that either merely reflected my name, or my fascination with lasers in general, not only to burn things.

So do you regret yours? If you do let us know why!

Thanks,
Isaac

No I don't. "Gun" is basically my name on all the forums that I'm on and I like it :)

I love my username. I got it from a TV show called Kenny vs Spenny. In the episode, Kenny name his pet Goat, Pilgor.

Take an educated guess :)

I always give forethought to these kind of things, because I know it will last.

Setting for the very first thing that comes to your mind usually always turns out really bad, be it a nickname, cellphone purchase or computer component choice, or course of action.

Clearly, I am proud of my name. Though, I do tend to go out of my way to be nice and articulate, as the name can give folks the wrong impression. Then, they're thrown off by the nice guy scumbag...

I kind of want to change my username as it's quite outdated now. :p I chose it on the spot with no real thought. :D Haven't been able to think of a good replacement, so until then it stays. :D

I have wanted to change my username many times, but I worry that the people I know of on here won't realize it is me and will think I dropped off the face of the planet.

I my case, I could probably get away with it. I mean how many moderators have my signature. :D :p Have no idea what I'd change it too though. (NOT 2013Revolution :p)

Yup, everyone has ***Laser or Laser*** names. If I could change I would just leave it at ARG.

Not a big deal though, not worth changing.

I've been using this same username since 2001. It has a backstory, and it's rather unique... so no, no regrets.

Best to give a username a couple of minutes thought.

Btw, if you do want to change your username, you can.

People will still know who you are. Especially if you ask to have a note added under your name (like A.k.a. Wannaburnstuff) and make a thread about it.

Of course the bigger risk is, people will keep referring to you by the same old name, and that will not change.

Yeah, Pman wan't the greatest choice either but noone else is going to want to use it:)
The "funny" thing is I actually have to pee alot due to kidney issues. Have to keep fluids going thru me due to never ending kidney stone issues.
My sig pic is distinctive so if I changed it others I'm in contact with would likely still know it's me.
I will say that "wannaburnstuff" never seemed to fit your character from reading your posts since I found these forums.
It's a guy thing for sure wanting to burn stuff. I work with OxyAcetylene all the time brazing and it should seem childish to light a simple match with a low powered laser but I get a get a kick out of it everytime. I've added the ability to easily focus almost all of my pen units because they are so overspec and can light matches. In fact, the only pens I own that I didn't bother to add focusing to are a few of each standard 532/405/650 (over 100mw) and (8) 532nm under 60mw plus a few misc. low powered reds (just didn't see the point).

^^^^As Pman said, my avatar alsso is unique so helps sets us apart from the laser related avatars. Recently a bunch of new members are using the yellow triangular laser warning sign as an avatar and I cant tell them apart.
