is nobody going to tell me if the camera I've selected is going to be a good camera or not?

Very impressive collection - look at all those lenses! Speaking of which, I had a Vivitar "Series I" for my Minolta X-700
Obviously you've been a loyal Pentax user for quite some time, now. Why even bother to switch? One of my colleagues wants to pull the trigger on the K-7... could be your next body
"Distortion and chromatic aberration correction for DA and DFA lenses"
sounds like an upgrade that would certainly be an advantage to you...
Personally, I don't know all that much about Pentax's SLR platform, but the one thing I do know and like is the built-in image stabilization! The costs incurred by both Canon & Nikon owners with per/lens IS solutions is just downright annoying! As a an example, Canon's 70-200 4L IS is almost twice as expensive as their non-IS version. Heck, that same lens costs about the same a their non-IS 70-200 2.8!!!
p.s. How much does your mirror "lenses" weigh? What do you use them for?
Man, would you look at that... that's one big-a$$ lensit seems to weight about 4 lbs...

They do look a bit cold-war era though, lol, but the image you provided proves they work and work well...
Cool. Let's see some of your Lazor pics (in color, of course)... :beer:2 old nikon Fs and six lenses... truer color as well
Niiice :yh:. The 18-55 II is better than you might think. Granted, it's a bit slow throughout its range and it doesn't have IS but it has had favorable reviews.Right now it's just a Canon XS with the 18-55mm stock lens... I hope to be getting a better lens soon.
True, true, but the question's how much better... hmm. A lens has many properties that need to be looked at, such as focal length range, max aperture, center/edge/corner sharpness, barrel/pin-cushion distortion, Chromatic Aberration, color cast, AF accuracy and what not. Of all the reviews I've read, I have yet to find a lens that doesn't have it's Achilles heel.I know it's good, but I also know that the more expensive ones are much better.
I'm afraid I can't comment on it as I have zero knowledge of fisheye lenses. Yes, they can produce pretty cool images, but at a price. My "non-standard" lens wish is a so-called tilt-shift lens, such as Canon's TS-E 24mm. As opposed to your objective, I'm looking to straighten out the lines...I've always wanted a fisheye...
Very nice! How's that macro, btw? Please post one of your pics with it here, should you have one on hand, thx :beer:Nikon D50 with a Nikkor AF-S 18-70mm, 50mm 1.8 and Sigma 50mm 2.8 macro
Rob, anyone's who's read one of your otherwise very informative reviews has at one time or another asked for pics... since like 2008...What's in MY camera bag ? Some lint & a broken camera !!! It SUCKS !!!! rob
