What's happened to LPF?

Yup time goes fast. I am not really one here for a long time but i never expected when i stated looking here that i would be hosting GB's and have a freaking closet full of lasers and laser stuff :p

greetings,,

How do you find your first post if you have a lot of posts? The board limits the number of posts in the search to 500, so that sets the oldest message in the list to about July last year.

Lol, i actually had to order a closet to put lasers, and only lasers in :D

I share the same feeling, never thought it would come this far.

I love this Forum :D and the people on it.

There are many kinds of people in the world
Not everyone fits in everywhere

It is very telling that your comment is just as timely today (2013) responding to this thread from 2011.

The people and times change
The "problems" remain the same
That is because it is NOT individuals in the community causing the problems
It is the newcomer's inability to fit in that causes the problems

Once again . . .
People come and people go
Some will fit in and some will not

It is the job of the newcomer to adapt to the community NOT the job of the community to adapt to the newcomer

Peace,
dave

Can't argue with that.

Reading through this thread, it really does seem like this thread could have been posted yesterday and still be perfectly relevant.

As they say, the wheels on the bus...

Just like old times, you do get a certain quality when forums are younger with a more closer knit group of people. 6 years here myself. Crazy that it's been that long already

I know in my personal experience I have long moved past random flashlight portable diode lasers. Far too boring. Gas lasers and arc lamp/flashlamp pumped lasers are much more interesting. Finding one for a good price is half the adventure.

^^I think that's the natural progression of many old timers here. They came for the pointer builds, stayed for a number of many other reasons. Pointers have certainly faded out of my interest. I only really own a couple "pointers" as things stand now. What I actually call my "lasers" are all mains powered and are dangerous to touch. ;)

I own, lets see ... 1 pointer, a WL core, and I have no idea where it is :D

Laser cutters and laser projectors FTW. Gas lasers are cool, but it's too hot up here already for me to enjoy them really.

I skipped reading any of the replies, before commenting on your thread, to tell you that I appreciate where you're coming from. But, as a beginning member, who has done his homework, I've received nothing but a pleasant welcome. Perhaps not warm, but welcome nonetheless.

I hope the members, including my future self, will remember to treat the newcomers with patience, and kindly direct them to the pertinent threads.

I've learned so much here from the generous members. I hope more people will experience the same.

Brian

^^Have you seen my posts? I'm losing/lasing my ass off here! Well, not literally, as my bits and pieces haven't arrived yet. But, I am ever so thankful for all that I have learned on this forum.

Yeah, but my first thread was about 5-months after I joined the forum. On some forums I may never even start my own thread.

I don't consider it wasted... I've learned a wealth of Information
here that I didn't know before...
