i have not seen a driver that is capable of taking 3aaa's or 3- 10440's. they are different batteries with a different purpose. one isn't better than the other.

Well I have one working running off of 2 10440s. Thats the one I was planning on selling. But then I decided I wanted to use all three AAA spots.

So what I'm hearing here is your trying to sell a laser you don't even have working yet, now ain't that a crock...

This is why its not released yet.... Because its not finished! The laser works using 3AAA. But since its better to use 10440s Im going to try to mod it.

AAA's in series (4.5V) and/or 10440's in parallel (4.2V)

You have to re-work the carriage.

I've had drivers work off 3 AAAs in series or 3 10440s in parallel just fine.

was it to power a >1W 445?? I have run 12X's from 3 AAA nimh's but the current draw from a boost driver to a high power 445 diode will most likely kill AAA alkalines and even nimh's very fast if they could even supply that current at all. several posts before, i made some rough estimates at what the batteries will need to supply...doesnt seem to compute to me.

does not compute does not compute

huh? ohh sorry i was typing from my blackberry and looking over my shoulder before i get yelled at for "slacking off".

It just doesnt make any sense how 1.3W of power can be acheived with alkaline AAA's.

3 10440s @ 600mah = 1800mah. Works just fine for a 445 TBC might not be as long compared to an 18650, but I thought it was fine. If you make 2 holders You can just pop in a freshly charged one if the need was there.

I had 3 AAA's measure current draw at over 2.5A. Runtime is not long. but using off the shelf batteries can be a plus.

^^That's 3 AAAs in parallel not series!!!! With a boost driver you can use the AAAs in the modified cartridge as a backup.

I was trying to act like a robot doing impossible math screaming DOES NOT COMPUTE DOES NOT COMPUTE. guess I'm the only sci-fi'er here.

hmm what brand 10440's are those because from the few that i have used before 600mAH is highly exaggerated...many have tested different brands of 10440's and most of them dont even hit 350mAH at high draw, i forget the forum that did the test, but the best performers hit like 450mAH. the ones I had only lasted 15 minutes at 1A steady draw.

and they did get insanely hot by that time...i was scared of them exploding so i stuck a fan to it.

do they even make the IMR's in 10440??

Yes all of the DX "AAA" I have tryed are only about 400-450mah
Don't believe the label on them
This is why I quit using them over a year ago !
and offer NO kits that use them...

I have TrustFire (silver label) branded protected 10440s that are 600mah, and seem to live up the the claims. The beat the hell out of My Blue surefire unprotected that claim the same 600mah which I suspect are only 350mah.
