Pre-launch hype is used to create an environment where many units can be moved more quickly. The "discussion" before the launch, gives the potential customer a "feeling" that the product has been thoroughly vetted when the product is finally launched

Even though nothing of substance has been discussed, the customer thinks that there must be no problems with the new product.

After all, if there was a problem it would have already come out in the discussions, wouldn't it have? (Re: central vs. peripheral route of persuasion)

I am hoping that bhwollen is doing this out of naivete and NOT as an effort to hype up an unknown. If he "suddenly" shows up with multiple units to sell quickly, I would be more than suspicious

Sparkles hasn't been gone long enough for us to forget the potential results of multiple units of a "new" product, being sold quickly, has he?

I'm 99.9% sure I know what host you're using.

Do you have enough background in the circuitry in this light to know exactly what you're talking about? Can you offer this to the community with better confidence than 'pretty sure?'

If the answer is 'no,' you'd really best go public with all the information you know and collaborate with others. Better to sacrifice your personal stake in order to aid the community than have it blow up in your face.
