I am awake now which means voting is officially over.

It looks like an extremely close running for first between 6 and 25 with a very oddly scattered mush of 3rd place contestants. Lovely.

Should have the winners announced within the next hour or so!

*edit* Actually probably not "within the next hour or so". By the end of the day for sure!

Whoever just tried to sneak in past the "voting is officially over" post --> that's a no-no ;)

Vote tally:
4: 9
6: 18
13: 7
15: 8
25: 17

Judging will take into consideration these numbers and decide the top 3 from those 5.

The winners are (in this order -- not any different from the votes in this case):

6, 25, 4!

Congrats to:
andy_con, crazyhobo, and jnhowett! (I think.. if I got any of those wrong lemme know!).

Winners please PM me with your addresses and the prizes from the OP in the order of "I WANT MOST" to "I WANT LEAST."

You guys can now go wild with what your picture was and how you did it!

Thanks!!

Thanks 'surfer! I had a good time with this contest, and 4th place is not too bad. Here's what is going on in my pic...

The laser on the left is the 593nm yellow CNI it projected beams and off the edge of the scenic plate's gold plated edge, it was reflecting into 2 yellow lines on the wall, (one looks like a yellow comet along the side of the mirror frame), as well as the beams at and from the mirror, the large laser next to it was a WL Spyder III blue 473nm (doing about 80mW), the large right laser was a common 532nm green, (of about 100 mW), which I lined up so that the brightest seeming green and blue were more blocked by the foreground lasers and crystal ball, so that, the less bright appearing violet , (405nm), and red 660nm were not drowned out. The crystal ball also shows some of the dots the diffraction grating spread onto the wall and table seeming to float in the ball. There are bowls and a pitcher of crystal, and a bit of the chandelier in the shot too, and the pitcher is so lit, it looks blue on it's right, it's center white and left side is magenta. The red laser is in a tripod top, (w/o legs), while the 405nm is hand held, my slight fog is from a small fog machine, (bought it from Bed, Bath and Beyond), The single diff. grating is over-exposed and looks white with the light of the 5 lasers, (total <700mW). I set-up & took the pic wearing multi-wl goggles, but had to be careful anyway... & the family and pets had all gone to bed, so, safely out of the way. Of course if I could of done anything to further make it a more "sick" beam shot, I would have. I really expected a lot more shots to out-shine my efforts, ya know! Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did! Anyone care to count the beams or dots? :)

Great job folks, to everyone who contributed and to the winners! :D

This was a great idea, I'd like to thank swimminsurfer256 also for initiating something unique and different like this - I was happy to take part with this & that there are many more to follow.

Congrats again to the winners, well done folks!! :D

looking forward to the next competition

My pic is a 500mw 532nm, 2W 445mn, 800mw 635 all focused into a diamond from the wife's jewelry. I wanted to retake pictures of this setup with a better planned background (without the baby wipes and random stuff) but ran out of time. Also wish I had a less powerful 445 so it didn't overtake the other lasers.

This was mine.

I used 20 DIY FS mirrors, 3 lasers, sticky tack, and a lot of carboard paper. The cardboard paper and sticky tack was for standing the mirrors up. It allowed me to turn and lean them however I wanted. The lasers were; Blue: Wickel Lasers Arctic, Red: Self build using a Coleman flashlight as the host, Green: Jayrob's stainless steel Aurora build.

To make the FS mirrors I bought a 6 pack of 12"x12"(about $8) mirror tiles from Menard's, then went to Wal-Mart and bought a spray can called "Aircraft Remover"(about $5). Went home and set up a bunch of shop towels under the mirror and sprayed a generous amount of aircraft remover on the back. After about a half hour I used a shop towed to wipe the grey stuff on the back of the mirror off and it left a pretty blotchy looking surface. I then washed it off with warm water in my shower, and took it back to the shop towels and resprayed the aircraft remover on it. Another 20 minutes later and more warm water I ended up with some pretty good FS mirrors. There are a few random black spots on some of them that are about the size of a period on a size 16 font, but for the most part they're good.

Being that I'm pretty sure everyone here knows what the Arctic and what Jayrob's stainless steel build look like, I'm just going to show what the Coleman one I made looks like. I do not have a proper heatsink on it, but for some reason it doesnt appear to get that hot. I've had it run for about 20-30 minutes and its still been cool enough to touch the module(only slightly warm). I don't know if this is because of how much air exposure there is to it or whatever but it seems to work. It's my first build and I have it running at about 400mA. I don't have an LPM yet so I can't say what its power is.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks to Swim for hosting this awesomely entertaining event and to everyone who entered and voted! I enjoyed seeing everyone's submissions more than anything else! I can't wait to see what the submissions are for the next one! :san:

I was number 25. Believe it or not there is only one laser in that pic, coincidentally my Super-Overspec green pen from Swim. I used the 15 second exposure setting on my Canon, and fogged up my basement a bit. I then quickly changed angles and standing positions to build the shot. This was the best out of about 50 tries. Now that the secret is out, I highly recommend trying out some shots like this if you have a long exposure setting on your camera. The results are crazy! I've attached another one I made with the addition of my Overspec Blu-Ray pen, also from Swim. :D

Bravo crazyhobo! I think you did a great job and with so little equipment outlay as well! -Glenn

Alright guys thread is up for the next beamshot competition :)
http://laserpointerforums.com/f48/h...n-rules-entries-thread-69391.html#post1001308

Generally the same rules, you just have to make it holiday themed (and only use green/red lasers -- unless you are a hanukkah celebrator, in which case you can use blue/white (or silver if you have a silver laser)).

Can't wait to run a few of these and have an overall "champions" thread ;)
