The first competition went rather well so here we go with round two -- HOLIDAY THEMED.

NOTE: DONATIONS ARE AND WILL REMAIN ANONYMOUS AND ARE NOT REQUIRED AND WILL NOT AFFECT ENTRIES/JUDGING IN ANY WAY

Anyone can enter (fo' free) and anyone can win! :D BUT PLEASE READ THE RULES BELOW!!

So here we go!
Introducing the second (as far as I know) beamshot competition: HOLIDAY EDITION


General Rules:
1. ONE submission per person (your submission cannot be a re-used photo. It must be something nobody has seen before!!)
2. If you win, you agree to not hold myself or any of my affiliates responsible for damage caused by the prizes.
3. If you don't win, you agree to not hold myself or any of my affiliates responsible for emotional distress caused by not winning this competition
4. Competition entries will be accepted starting today, Dec 4 and will end Friday, Dec 23rd at MIDNIGHT EST.
5. Submissions will remain anonymous until winners are declared and PLEASE TRY TO KEEP THEM ANONYMOUS TO AVOID BIAS.

Non-USA entries are ACCEPTED, although your huge shipping costs may cut into your prizes if you win....


Specific rules + how to enter:
1. Take a beamshot picture using PREFERABLY red or green lasers (or, if you are so inclined, I will of course allow blue and silver). -- Any image fully Holiday themed (that is, red/green+christmas or blue/silver+hanukkah) will be judged higher than an equally cool non-holiday color themed image. All images SHOULD have some element of the holidays in them!
2. Holiday spirit (props, etc.) is a BIIIG plus
3. Pick your favorite single photo taken and email it as an attachment to beamshotcompetition@revoctechnologies.com
3b. **optional** Tell me *how* and *with what* you took the picture in the email :)
4. You are entered! Make sure that your username appears below under "entered."
5. At the deadline, stay tuned for a posting of the best 25-or-so pictures :) and the voting shall begin!!


Now, let's see some sick beamshots!! :beer:

I have a question about the 1st rule and please know I'm not asking this to complicate anything, I just want to be clear. ;) It says to use only red or green but blue is acceptable. Wouldn't it make more sense to allow all 3 colors, or not blue at all instead of blue being optional(?)

Also I'm curious if it would be considerable asking for submissions to be a certain pixel size (800x600, 1024x768, ect) for quality purposes. It's possible someone could enter an awesome beamshot but at a pixel ratio so large or small that resizing it to match everyone elses could take from the quality of the picture. What do you think? :thinking: :beer:

Hi I emailed my entry but well, there is yellow too. That was the best I had. Hope it counts :/ Plus I wasn't allowed to enter last time so can you do an exception? :)

Fine fine, I'll make it "preferred" to stick to holiday colored lasers. Extra kudos go to images that stick to the green/red+christmas or blue/silver+hanukkah theme (and remember, there is actual judging involved).

Also, images will usually be resized to around 1024x*whatever* where 1024 is the longer side for these comps so plan accordingly!

Thanks, it's much appreciated. Plus it will be even more beautiful with more colors :D Well practically, a projector can produce all colors too, still it's RGB only.. :D

Thanks this is good to know. I hope I don't come across as pesky also, that's not my intent nor my character. It just helps me plan out a little better for what I'd be thinking of doing for this idea. :beer:

OK. So I'm trying to come up with a good one this time.
But I'm finding it difficult to come up with all the materials that I need...

If I am understanding the OP, anything can be submitted. Just extra marks can be made from keeping it "holiday" themed.
A kind of bonus for using extra creativity while limiting your color pallette, you see.

Now for those of us who are known for our "Bah, Humbug !" atitudes, I might suggest a good burning laser toasting some "holiday" decor...and I just had an interesting (yet disturbing) variant on the ass lasers picture from last round. Anyone want to make some burns in the pants of a Santa Suit ?

This is a very nice idea. But why suggest it to us instead of going right ahead and doing it yourself? :p
