Hey Dave, I must have misunderstood.
I was under the impression that the barrels you recieved from Ken were for testing, not the finished product.
On 12-22-10 I asked Pontiac about it and he was unaware that Ken shipped any barrels to anyone, even after you made the post #890.

No worries. I was just clearing up the misunderstanding. I have my barrels from both of them.

I'm anxious about getting my first 1W laser up and running. So I don't care if the barrel is unpolished and unanodized because it'll be cheaper and easier to paint on. I also have the problem that I'll be moving within 2 weeks so I won't have internet access after then.

The vibratory polisher has been purchased and a run of trial barrels is currently in the thing doing a test run. I will have results soon. They claim 2 hours on the medium I have chosen. We shall see. Rather noisy thing to be inside, but it's getting dark outside and I don't want to bug the neighbors.

I do want to say that you cannot time a GB from when the thread started. It should begin from the moment that folks start paying money and for when a product is actually delivered as the end time. We didn't start taking payments until June, so this GB is right on schedule with all the other GB's I've done for the grooves.

I delivered Dave's barrels some time ago as he wanted them unfinished and unpolished. If anyone else wants to get their barrels right away and opt to not have them anodized or polished, you can let me know now and I will ship them ASAP. Tyson is also requested his barrels unfinished.

That is some good news to hear Kenom
I'm glad things are beginning to pick up. If this polisher works, all we have left is the anodizing. We just got to find you a warm place to set up shop for that part. Ever think about renting a cheap room in a seedy motel

well 2 hours didn't show anything appreciable. I am going to let it go for a number of hours.
having some different medium might make a difference as well. This medium is shells and it's supposed to be the last one used. so I might have to move up to a little bit more aggressive medium to begin with.

You can get ground up Walnut shells at pet supply stores for way cheaper than from anywhere selling them for polishers. Try them if you need more or a different grade.

I figured as much when you said shells. Take a sample with you if you go to a supply store, and look for a different size. They do sell a liquid that you can add to the shells to make them work better, but Aluminium is funny stuff and it might react and discolor. 8 to 12 hours should give the barrels a good polish, and it always takes longer than suggested in my experience.
