Thanks for the update Kenom.

I hope Pontiacg5 is ok. He hasn't been responding to PMs (I PMd him about a week ago) and before that he was very chatty giving me info on lathes :). Then all of a sudden he seemed to disappear.

You wouldn't happen to have a head for a Kryton Smooth, would you, Ken (or anybody else)?

Sorry guys, I won't be around for a bit longer. Our house received some pretty serious damage so I've been working on moving stuff out of the way to fix everything. Kind of have to hurry, winter's getting close...
My dad is coming back to town to help fix everything this Thursday, he's leaving on Monday so I should (hopefully) be back then. Unless a truss or something decides to knock me in the head :D

Are smooths just a groove without the grooves? If so I have two "smooth" barrels that I would swap with Ken for somebody if it's alright with him. I don't have any grooveless heads though...

The "Smooth" was smaller. It was designed for two 16340 batteries.

Yes! Grooves are coming! I can't wait to get them! The new 445nm will be a great addition to my 405nm! :)
 
I have not been able to do anything thusfar with the barrels as the weather has been very cold and the anodizing bath needs to be above a certain temp to work. that being said I am looking for a heated garage with electricity that I can do this stuff in. has to be well ventilated as well. I refuse to breath sulfur dioxide. I will keep everyone updated.

I imagine just polishing them will take a century or two. For those that only ordered them without anodizing are you going to work on them now or wait until you can find a place to do anodizing? I remember you saying that they will probably ship first since they don't need anodizing. I ordered a mixture so I know I will wait until all of my order is done... Not worth me paying for another shipping charge just to get the bare polished ones early.

I believe (unless you've sent one to ken,) one of the 2 "smoove" barrells is mine, as I spoke to you and ken about it a while back. Obviously I'm not going to be especially disappointed if i get 2 grooves, but I think that is the reason for the 2 smoove barrels being created

If the anodizing is going to hold things up, Ken, I can take mine in bare, polished finish.

Cold is what you want... Warmth speeds up the process, but can
lead to a 'soft' oxide layer, or even worse burning.


You can place an aluminum plate on the anode and the tank will
come up to the desired temp...

Are we still on for the angry mob against the unanodized grooves owners just thought id confirm before i buy my pitchfork :P..


@kenom, can you try and post a couple vids on how you do the custom annodzings would be great to see how some of them are done..
