Pioneer 16X BDR-209DBK

Got mine in the mail a couple days ago and finally planted it in a temporary host for testing. I also got my NoSpin Ophir LPM then next day and did some testing last night. DTR, I cannot remember what you set the current to on this thing but whatever you did it is unbelievably powerful. I was shocked to get a consistent 1180mW with peak power running up to 1240 mW on initial start up with a G9. I have not yet figured out how to use ARGs data logging feature installed in this LPM but when I do I can make the results for this diode available to you or others. I will try to make a video of it soon and post some stationary pics of the meter readout. What is the loss of a G9 lens? I figure around 10% would mean this thing does an easy 1.3w raw output. Thoroughly impressed and so glad you mentioned these to me in your email the other day. I don't know if there are any left but I may be up for another. Thanks again for everything you do and bringing these to market.
Sincerely,
Jmillerdoc

I've decided on .6A for mine, even if it results in under 1W. have had too many diodes die on me within the last year. does anyone know what their rated output is?

What about the divergence with G2 / G9 / 3 element?

Brightness compared to 9mm 445nm diode?

In addition, what is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

This made me laugh. xD

You are comparing the least visible wavelength, n the visible spectrum, that we have. To 3W of 445. You're comparing 1W of 405 to basically, 800-1000mW of 532. That's ... No. That's not a thing. They're not the same ballpark. They're not even the same sport.

These wavelengths are not comparable by any means.

On another note, setting mine to 700mA. Just waiting on all the parts :)

Pics of the beams side-by-side?

An Unladen Swallow has an average air speed velocity of 38.62 km per hour.

You wont be able to tell from the pictures because the 405nm wont look the same on camera as it does to your eyes. I just built a new 405nm with the S06J 12x and I can't get a proper photo that looks like I see it. It meters at 590mw and the beam is barely visible in dim light, my 9mm 445nm must be at least a hundred times brighter, however I am astonished to find the burning ability is similar. So be careful with one of these, I have already accidentally left several scorch marks and that is with only 590mw, I can only imagine what 1w+ can do.

you all will be sorry when yours dies at .7A and mine keeps going, (insert evil laugh) more likely is the opposite, mine will burn out at .6A and yours will all be ok at .7A excited for the burning a little bit, single mode is so much better at a distance. some of those multi mode diodes have pathetic "focal points" (cough cough mitsubishi 635)

it's not a matter of where he grips it....

DTR, do you recall what you set mine at? I was thinking I went with your recommended max of 700mA. I can't imagine it's any lower. Higher possibly, but not lower, there's no way I could be getting this output at 600mA.

Also, any word on when you might be testing the 9mm 3.5w 445? I am so tempted to get one but I have given you so much of my money lately I might need to come back for a loan someday soon. This is an addictive hobby, much more that I could have expected. You realize DTR your profiting on some of our moral weaknesses and addictive personalities. Hope you can live with that and sleep well at night. There might be little children going to beg hungry tonight because daddy had to have his laser fix and you are so willing to accommodate......

I suspect DTR does not pocket too much profit, I rarely see diodes for less than he sells 'em. was searching around for that same new 9mm 445, everywhere I found it was on average $100 more than DTR

Jordan said most of us went with 700ma. Hopefully we all won't have dead diodes in a week :p
