Yeah, it's beautiful there. I remember my aunt from Santa Barbara going and bringing me some rocks from the volcanoes there when I was a kid. Had some awesome red obsidian, volcanic glass. BTW, + rep. :D

I'd like some red obsidian myself, used to have some green as a kid, that stuff is terribly sharp, used for surgical knives due to it.

Found a few of these 25 mm diameter 25 mm FL PCX lenses on ebay, might be right to collimate a NUBM44 into a fairly fat beam. I don't know the divergence of that diodes raw output, I guessed 50 degrees on the fast axis and it came out to just under 25 mm spot diameter at this FL, so this lens night work OK, but needs further investigation. Yeah, I had some black obsidian in addition to the Hawaiian red obsidian. You should have picked some up while you were there. I think the aspheric lenses would work better than PCX ones. But, I guess it depends on what you can get your hands on. That was the one thing I really liked about the 11mm ones you got.

Yep, if I could find laser quality AR coated aspherics this big I’d silently have bought them out at this price, LPF wouldn’t know :p but these PCX lenses are fine for our needs with many diodes, not sure about an uncorrected NUBM44, but at this price worth a try. Many of the higher power vis MM diodes we use will have a spot of close to at least half of the lens diameter at this FL.

There are a few aspherics on ebay 16 mm and up to an inch or so, but unless made by Melles Griot, Newport, Thorlabs or some other laser optics manufacturer I won’t buy them, they are usually junk or spot light glass with swirls of different densities of glass, terrible for lasers.

Well its been a long time coming...But its time for me to hang up the lasers for good this time..... Just got too much going on and no time for lasers...

Matt is awesome!

He used to be a regular at SELEM a few years ago.

I've bought a number of things from him.

He moved on from the large frame stuff he got rid of, a few years ago.

Wow, finally under a hundred dollars, nice :) If someone buys this, please post if it can be driven to 1.3 or more watts output, a true NDG7475 can, and more.

I really doubt it, Chris. This has been on my watch list for the past 10 days and not only is it a used diode, but it is called a refurbished diode. As in take the ball lens out and put a cap on. At best it is a used NGD700 with who knows how many hours on it.

Look at the listing again. It says manufacturer refurbished and "tinned pins". It is as used as can be.

Well, if techhood is selling used diodes his listing is misleading because he says they came out of a new module, the way I read it. Although, technically "refurbished" because they don't come new from the factory that way when taken out of a block. The thing which concerns me more is if they are really 700 mw units which can be over driven to 1 watt, and won't make 1.3 watts plus.

The NDG7475T number with the T on the end is the way they list the NDG700s. They have changed this listing as it used to have the forward current at 1.8 amps. I have grave doubts that these are new diodes removed from unused blocks, but hey, buy one and you can tell us all about it. :)
