P7 led

Jay would know fer sur plus thats pretty small to be a 30 watt my 10 watt is twicw as big

No way that's a 30W emitter, 3W or 5W I might believe.
The original light was 30W, with an incandescent bulb. Now matrixcs wants to replace it with the 10W P7 quad-emitter LED.

The letter/number combo designates the efficiency (in lm/W). P7 is an older one, with ~90lm/W. Q5 is the current standard for high-quality flashlights (~110lm/W). The current best, but difficult to get, is R2 at ~117lm/W (in each case, there's actually a range of values - all LEDs that fall within a range are put into the corresponding "bin"). There are different sub-designations for color temperature.

End of last year, there was an announcement of a 150lm/W Cree emitter (which would probably fall in the "T" bin once it starts being mass-produced), but I haven't heard any more about it (didn't try to follow it either).

From Ebay Page:

"Forward current: 3500mA
Forward voltage: 32-36V"

Where would you get that kind of driver? What batteries would be suitable to power it with?

The Wicked torch relies on the IR light as well to generate heat. It may do like 900lm or so of visible light, but how much IR is anyones guess.

I don't think the wicked torch uses a 100W halogen, last time I checked it was 50W, unless they have upgraded.

I bought a 1x18650 torch off DX with the SSC P7, the best torch I have ever bought :)

The SSC P7 is rated to run at 2800ma, so a single 18650 isn't really up to the job (for any amounts of time).

You don't understand. Lumen is a measure of brightness, not power. 1W of 532 light has 600 lumens. 1W of 660 has 41 lumens. 1W of 1064 light has 0 lumens.

So it's not even possible to have the other 3200 lumens as IR. That's like saying I weight 32 gallons long.
