my rayfoss 200mw torch can't burn a match, is that normal?

are you sure you're focusing it properly?
Is the battery charged?
Can it smoke a white paper?

Other half of video is my Rayfoss 200mW. It had 4V in it...But it charges to 4.32V. I dont own matches, Sorry :( mine was the no-IR filter...

A kind suggestion - use caution when charging, or consider getting a different charger. 4.32v is considered overcharging (should not exceed 4.20v).

Hope OP is more happy with his next green laser.

i found out my problem, my battery was a bad one. I picked up a new one and my 200mW FLX works perfect. When i focus it properly the match lights within a second.

faona doesn't answer on msn or email...and they don't send anything.

this smells bad....

Mik, The battery has a built in 4.32V protection. It automatically stops there.

The protection circuit is to protect from worst case scenario, which is a runaway cell that vents fire, or on occasion explodes. The PC is not designed to work as a charging aid at all, it's a safety aid.. think of it like an airbag in your car. The charger should ramp up to a max of 4.20v and hold that voltage for the majority of the charge. A properly working charger detects that the battery is full not based on voltage, but based on the reduction in current that the cell is taking while charging.

How can you tell that the PC on the cell is tripping and the charger isn't just terminating? Either way, I would personally not use a li-ion charger that does 4.32v. If you wish to keep using it, I just suggest that you always be around while charging is taking place, and put the charger somewhere safe while charging. A venting cell releases fire and harmful fumes. Not good stuff.

please, can anybody help me to contact with faona?

i sent the laser to the address she told me:

Hello Ruben,

Could you please advise me how you light the match.
As in the light process the hand should not shake or move.
It's better you could insert the match head into the bea at the 8cm place away from the beam aperture.

Could you please check if the battery has enough power? Do you mind to charger the battery and do the test again?

If it still can not work please kindly take several pictures of the beam dot to us is ok?

We could exchange new laser for you if the laser is really can not match the power of 200mw.

Here is our shipping address: (Just sent the laser back is ok no need battery and charger by regular mail is ok we can receive)

Hmm... Doesn't sound normal for Faona.
I am going to be purchasing some lasers from them today, and will post if/when she responds simply to confirm that she is still emailing.

BTW: I hope you sent it with "tracking".

I have heard china is on holiday again, until the 4th. This fact, or the earthquake could be responsible for the delay. Does she know your from LPF? This forum gives them ALOT of business, so Im sure a forum member would be the last person they try to rip. Give it until the 5th and see if you hear back, also wouldnt hurt to tell her your from LPF if you didnt already.

I don't think so...only new customers are getting response. customers who wants to return a laser are not getting response. It's clear what is happening here....

Well today or tomorrow should be a response if it was due to the holiday. Just because they answer your questions during holidays doesnt mean they will be able to organize a return. The whole country shuts down over there for their holidays. Im not supporting them, just explaining why this may be happening. It would be a real shame to see rayfoss go down like that.
