Re: 445nm pictures

True blue baby!

Hey that's my Cryton! :cryyy:

I'm taking very good care of it for you.

Incidentally, in the house, with nothing added to the air, the beam compares (in brightness) to a 70mW green. The "spot" is brighter, but the beams looked pretty close

Peace,
dave

Re: 445nm pictures

Awesome ain't it?

I have my Polished SS CR2 ready for the diode you sent...

I already have the driver set at 448mA's. (don't want to go too high with an RCR2)

But as you know, it will be plenty bright! :)

Re: 445nm pictures

My photography skillz still suck, but I thought I would show these off any way

There is nothing added to the air inside. The air outside is a bit humid tonight. The color is about right on my monitor

700mA = 705mW

Awesome! I love the looks of that beam... I can't wait to build one of those... :D

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

Actually I believe they go in order from far left being 473nm, middle being 445nm, and far right being 405nm.

Re: 445nm pictures

Hey Dave,

Nice pictures. What lens are you using?

Re: 445nm pictures

Just to add - at the powers I am running mines (700-800mW) these are not only eye hazards but also fire hazards. So far I have set fire to my door and a *white* piece of paper. The CD/DVD I was using as a grating also has several very deep, very burnt holes on it.

AVOID putting your laser near any volatile/explosive chemicals. Trust me :eg:.

These lasers will burn pretty much anything ( even without focusing the beam to a point ), skin, clothes, furniture, plastics ( Including opaque plastics ) and just about anything else you stick in the beam.

BE CAREFUL!

Don't want anyone getting hurt ...

Re: 445nm pictures

Your laser is looking prity awesome :D I hope my quickly made (I didnt center it :( ) heatsink will be good enough for my laser. It has a fan too if i need it o.O

Sadly it didn't come today :( Tomorrow!!!
If you point your laser at a door say...a hallway down (about 50ft) will it still start to smoke..?

Re: 445nm pictures

Hey Dave,

Nice pictures. What lens are you using?

Those pics were take with the 405-G-2 lens in it. The G-2 lens produces the same beam profile as the G-1 lens

Peace,
dave

Depends how well you can get it collimated really.

That heatsink looks fine, mines isn't centred either and the hole is actually too big. A little heatsinking adhesive and it was fine. All good for testing.

Ahh right okay ... may I suggest painting the inside of the aixiz module with some sort of "carbon paint" in order to reduce reflections, it may improve some of the artifacts around the beam.

I'll be buying some Aixiz 405 lenses when I have money to test them.

Regards,

Adam

Re: 445nm pictures

Dave has some big fat pics in an awesome Kryton host

Re: 445nm pictures

I'd still like to know if you can burn something at about 50ft...You catching a door on fire (or started a small fire) seems a bit much xD

Re: 445nm pictures

WOW!!!
These pics are amazing! That is one hell of a bright beam.

I agree having a 1W laser beam is extremely dangerous in the hands of someone that knows little about the dangers.
Reflected light from a laser such as this will blind instantly, there might even be a fire hazard as well. I know at least that the University I used to go to had a MASSIVE 1W argon and it was kept under lock and key.
Now we have a 1W portable blue laser the size of a flashlight. Amazing!

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

Pictures can be deceiving though. Looking at them side by side, does the 445nm diode seem closer to 405nm or 473nm?

Man I can't wait for mine! To date I've only ever seen 4 different wavelengths, now I get to add a fifth to the family.

I have only seen red and green in person!

But hopefully today, I will see my first 445nm :yh:

Man I hope work flys by.
