Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

Just shot a quick video, looks like I should have posted it here... :D

* 445nm A130 diode
* 640mA's
* 530mW's
* AixiZ 405 glass lens

Edit: Add this!

Here's my 445 build in a SS CR2...

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

Lookin good Jay. Aren't these diodes great! For those curious I feel like my comparison shot is close to real life accuracy.

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

Just what I wanted to see, a comparison shot that is close to what we would see. Can't wait to get my 445nm.
Nice vids, but you forgot your safety glasses ;)

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

LOL, I didn't forget, just chose not to use them. The only times I wear safety glasses is if I am starring at an object while I am burning it with lasers greater than 500mW or whenever dealing with >1watt lasers being used indoors.
edit: In no way am I promoting my own habits/behaviors to anyone else. The level of safety you choose to practice is your own decision. Hopefully it will be an educated one.

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

Well it's your choice, but with pointers I wouldn't take the risk. I only take my goggles of with solid setups below ~300-400mW, which is already careless from a proffesional point of view if the beam is unshielded.

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

both yobresal and jayrob, what driver did you use? I posted in another thread my question.
Can I use a flexdrive with 1x 18650 battery to get ~300 mW ? What current should I set the flex at? Thanks in advance.

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

Yeah use a flex with an 18650. Will work great. I don't know at what current your diode will produce 300mW. 480mA maybe?

Not to be smart or anything but if i stared at something i was burning with my 300mW 650nm, i'd be in some serious pain :(
But maybe i just have sensitive eyes.

Re: Photos and Video of 445nm

and 750mW 405nm.

Thats one hot 405nm! As for your comparison shots i must say they are stunning! I have 473nm and 405nm myself, i would love to add a 445nm like what you've got

I think it goes without saying that some people have very sensitive eyes when it comes to light and others don't. Some people can stare at the sun and see a round orange ball while others just see a bright flash and physically cannot open their eyes to even attempt to see it.

According to the diagram of ma-mw on another thread Ithought 500 mA would be a good current. so i ordered 2 flex's at 500 ma :)

Re: 445nm "sled" pics

I borrowed someones small Canon point and shoot and managed to take a couple pictures that are better than my other pictures.

This was my first build, a coleman max with a Microboost set to 550mA:

My second build a Jayrob 18650 Host with a Microboost set to 900mA:

This build , for the hell of it , using an AMC7135 1.050 Amp driver, in a very classy
Radioshack project box:

Re: 445nm "sled" pics

Nice...

Hey on that 18650 build, if you wanted the module/focus ring closer to the heatsink, you could just re-position the module inside the heatsink...

I know it will fit with the module flush with the heatsink, but you could even set the module farther into the heatsink if you wanted. You may need to clip the pins a tad shorter for that though...

Re: 445nm "sled" pics

I always like to have my module flush with the heatsink, but that's just me :p

Awesome builds, great pics :cool:

*EDIT*
...f you wanted the module/focus ring closer to the heatsink...

...I left it a bit out for focusing purposes.

Hmm, I forsee an EzFocus in your near future, SpyderFire... :whistle:
