Max output for a 635 nm laser, while affordable?

Cool! I just asked a few people about how much per diode to my door ten would be. So if it's =/<$175 that would be nice!

Just a heads up - I already contacted the 3 north american distribs for Opnext, before we chatted here - so they may be seeing some duplication of inquiries, lol.

Well, would you be okay with taking this to pm? And maybe telling me who was the cheapest ? If not it's fine, but it would be really cool! Haha

Oh - none have replied yet (this was like Thursday or Friday). But I'll pass along any news :)

The ML520G55 is a 180mW singlemode 638nm diode.

My apologies - you are right :)
That looks intriguing. Probably a response to the Opnext 170mw diode.

This is what I'd like:
Mitsubishi ML501P73 Red Laser Diode for Pico Projectors | Science Magazine News

And datasheet here:
http://www.mitsubishichips.com/Glob...t/laserdevice/ldindis/638nm/ml501p73_1123.pdf

Apparently, while still multi-mode, its divergence is manageable. 445s are multimode, and we made them work. These ones are designed for projectors too, so I have a feeling their multimode might not be the horrible gap-filled reality of a lot of other 635nm multimode diodes. Plus, 500mW ??

For sure!

You should comparison shop with the hl63133dg then as well. I think it has ever so slightly better beam specs (but very similar). I think it's 9,17 instead of 9,19

I say YES + PM´d you

In the end I need someone to put this into a host

Won´t push these to far + a host with a great cooling should be the home for these diodes.

I´m gonna run mine on min.-current for sure! I´m more interested in the color difference than in the power.

That one is multimode, we all heard terrible stories about the Mitsubishi .5W line generators. The HL63133DG is single mode, that's what makes it so interesting.

Are you sure ? ..... the datasheet don't say TEM00 or "single mode", it say only "TE mode oscillation" (whatever they means with this, it's not too much clear for me ..... mode change ? .....)

EDIT: @ DJNY

I usually don't trust too much alibaba site, cause they carry very strange informations ..... as example, i don't read Chinese, but know the meaning of some of the characters, for have looked a lot of them searching for electronics .....

The page you linked say in the order box .....

数量(PCS) (order quantity) 1000 pcs or more (usually in multiple of 1000)

价格(元/PCS) (price ? ("money" for each piece, in China they use RMB as money) -> 1 RMB each piece (for 1000 pieces or more, ofcourse)

发货地: 广东 深圳 福田区 ..... ? items? "shipping" : ? east ? "shenzen", (bless ?) ? ?

单位重量: 10公斤 ..... not sure ..... can be something similar to " ? ? ? volume 10 ? ? (Kg ?)"

More of this, i don't understand, sorry ..... but, seriously, 1 RMB each piece ? ..... ok, i know it's 1000 pieces minimum, and renminbi (Chinese yuan) is not so high value, but this is something like 0.15 $ each   ..... there is an error somewhere, i suppose .....

Ahem,
Multiple traverse mode

Also, look at the divergences:
HL6388MG (multimode): parallel 11° perpendicular 40°
ML520G55 (singlemode): parallel 9° perpendicular 19°
HL63133DG (singlemode): parallel 9° perpendicular 17°

180mW of ML520G55 is only 1% brighter than 170mW of HL63133DG given the single nm of typical wavelength difference.
Beam: (638nm 180mw) vs. (637nm 170mw)

Knowing that, I would pick the diode to stock or GB based entirely on cost (and perhaps consider the slightly better divergence of the Opnext)
