Kryton GB round 3! MULTIPLE HOSTS!

Maybe you could start doing exact copies of leadlights? They are very hard to get at a reasonable price nowadays...

well, I can sure continue on with the AA sized host, I just don't see a whole lot of interest in them.  They are only a little bit smaller than the Kryton smooth (v1).  The only way I'll go forward with them is if there is enough interest to warrant a large run.  It's not financially beneficial to only turn 10-20 or so.  I can make it significantly shorter if folks are going to mount thier flexdrives differently.  instead of mounting them direct to the diode use wires and mount it almost flush.

We didn't discuss the beast as I'm still finalizing a few measurements and am waiting for a barrel to get them from.

define reasonable price?? I would offer them for roughly $20-$25 Now this would be with a aluminum module instead of a "aixiz"

$20-$25 IS a reasonable price. You cannot get a leadlight for under $40...

well occasionally andy_con comes up with a few spare leadlights and sells them for $15 or so. but then you've got to press an aixiz into them. The only major difference would be mine would have to increase the wall thickness by about 1mm total. There's just not enough metal to cut threads there.

Andy does not sell them anymore :'(
I guess you're right about the threading... :-/

I would rather go with a host slightly smaller than a kryton smooth than a beast or a tiny keychain. At least I want something handy with protected AA batteries. As it is you present us only with options on the extreme side. It's like going to the burger king and you can only choose between small or extra large.

that is understandable. I'm hoping here to have a large assortment of Krytons to fill everyone's palate. Well, if more folks speak up for the PPR with the single AA at about 18.5mm and roughly 70mm-75mm long we will go for it.

You can still count my 5 in towards the 1xAA model.  You'll have to ask again if you change to the leadlight clone.

Is it a side button or a tailcap button design? How much room would you be leaving for the driver?

That is actually a pretty good idea. Maybe something about the size of the sonar case? It is in my opinion about the optimum size for a pointer, but combined with and all alu body for heatsinking it would be a damn nice portable. Maybe in a AA size arrangement (can they be found with protection?), perhaps a bit shorter than sonar but same diameter?

I know you have your hands full with the 3 on the pallet already, but I think this one would be great (maybe even an alternative option to the kryton mini). I am loving the KV2 barrel as far as functionality/heatsinking goes, perhaps the only thing is that its a bit big for my pockets. In a smaller sonar sized config, powered of a AA lith or something like that, it would be the perfect pointer imo. I know I would be in for 1 or 2.

Honestly, that "smaller than smooth, bigger than 1AA" sounds like a leadlight, and you can already go buy a leadlight.  To me at least, if you want something in that range, you can get a leadlight, or even a Sonar case.  But this 1-AA host would be unique, the batteries available fit the flexdrive perfectly since AA-sized 3.6V protected lithiums are available, and it would be great to me.

If Kenom finds it worth the effort (read: if there is enough demand), then maybe the "slightly bigger than a leadlight and slightly smaller than a smooth" could be possible.  It just seems to me that it's not worth the cost/hassle of making what amounts to a custom leadlight when a leadlight is already available.

So, if you're counting interest, I am interested in the 1-AA size, but not very interested in a possible 2-AA size (unless it was somewhere significantly cheaper than a leadlight where the AAA batteries work fine, which I doubt it would be)

Ok seems to be a large enough interest then for the slightly larger than a leadlight but shorter than a sonar. I'll go forward with it then.

Well, Yes I'm interested, What is the cost target though?

uhm i just put two grooves togather all i can say is wow
these were the easiest builds i have ever done everything needed was there  as soon as i come up with more funds i will be getting enough to make 5 more 100 mw blurays in these barrels

5 barrels-about 300.00 usd
5 sleds prh 803-t 100.00 usd
5 18650 batteries  20.00 usd

$420.00 for 5 badd a$$ blurays or i could pay wicked lasers 2000 for one of thiers

hmm i thinks i've gotten Groove idas  ::)

now i really want one of these since my boys are having so much fun with them  at first i told the kids be carefull one minute on one off but even at that one died who knows it was 60 mw  and had 10 minutes on it but i quickly repaired it and they are working well they dont even get warm at 60 mw i believe thats what they are a 60 mw diode hopefully these will last a long time  and no i won't be selling any of them either i'm a laser hoared lol
