Re: Kenometer Pro and USB screenshots

It looks as Ken want to start making concurrence to Coherent and Ophir, almost ..... j/k :p :D

BTW, it's going in the right direction for give a very good unit, imho ..... just one suggestion, if you permit ..... in the graph screenshot, if the software allow you to change it, maybe a "line" (like a plot) instead than a "solid bars" graph, may result more readable, and looks more "professional" (nothing to say against solid graphs, it's just a feeling ;))

Good idea also the analogic scale simulation, that for some "old" users may feel more instinctive :)

I could reprogram the microprocessor to render a line type graph but doing so will severely reduce the graph resolution since there aren't a ton of pixels to work with. If you want a line type graph you can plug it into your computer.

Re: Kenometer Pro and USB screenshots

Here's a list of features for the Kenometer Pro:

-Calibrated, spectrally flat, and professional grade thermopile laser sensor
(no conversion factors or math needed)

-Onscreen display in real time of the following:
Current sensor reading
Peak sensor reading
Average sensor reading
Minimum sensor reading
Power over time graph or analog meter movement

-Two modes, power graphing and continuous monitoring:
Power graph mode for testing laser ouputs over a period of time
Continuous mode for tinkering, like aligning the mirrors on a gas laser
or adjusting power of a solid state laser

-Powered either directly by USB from a computer, or internally by three
14500 lithium cells

-USB computer interface for saving laser performance data

-User definable settings for onscreen graph window

Re: Kenometer Pro and USB screenshots

And Kenometer USB will have the very same features but in software? Excellent work, BTW!
Oh, do you plan to provide free software/firmware upgrades later?

Re: Kenometer Pro and USB screenshots

I'm actually having the aluminum plate silk screened with graphics and button labels.

No Ken... I was referring to the shiny finish of the Black Plastic enclosure...
You had mentioned that you would be silk screening the faceplate...

Oooooh. Why would I want to ruin that? Not like your gonna be shining lasers onto it. Or at least I HOPE you wouldn't.

Just one word.... Unsolicited Reflections...

I'm not being negative.. just precautious for you before your
final design...;)

Not a problem for me... the Deluxe LaserBee I enclosure is
textured and the faceplate label has a flat black finish to avoid
any stray reflections should they happen..

Any laser powerful enough to cause damage from stray reflections of a black plastic surface is going to melt the plastic, resulting in a specular reflection from the plastic no matter how you texture it

Plus since the power sensing heads are now external, the chances of hitting the meter housing is low.

Re: Kenometer Pro and USB screenshots

I hear what you are saying... we'll just leave it at that...

Still looking forward with the new units...

What is the (REAL/ACTUAL not hopefully) date that this Pro model
will become available..

Re: Kenometer Pro and USB screenshots

the only thing standing in the way is how it fits into the box. Mario is tweaking code to see if it's going to be stable and such, and I'm drilling and stuff to see how everything fits in the box. If it were me, I'd be offering them right now, but mario is being cautious. :D (nothing wrong with that)

Re: Kenometer Pro and USB screenshots

Sadly the sofware does not support Macs. Hehehe why would we want to support the creator of the I-craze... It's not generation Y.. It's generation I!
