Kenometer Pro and USB screenshots and build updates

Just one suggestion. What if you use Java? That would ensure that all the customers can run the software, and, all in all, Java is not that different from the other languages.

Again, just an idea ;)

Very nice work all in all!

Sorry I like mine Decaf.

lol...burn

Can't wait to see the finished product Kenom, keep up the good work. Really liking the enclosure you chose for the Pro, makes it look...well, uhm...pro. ;)

Though as someone on PL mentioned, with all the innovation and thought put into your product perhaps a web-site is in order? Doesn't have to be anything fancy just a nice place where potential buyers will be able to see all your pictures, videos and details, think it would go a long way in getting the extra attention your products deserve, along with adding to the affordable/professional quality aura of the product.

Or you can post all you Photos on a per product Thread and link to it
in your Sig...

You post often enough that to would be easy to find your sig..

I'm writing entirely custom logging software in C#... but you're right, Java is an option. The graphics libraries may end up proving easier to work with. I'll finish the project, then perhaps redo it in Java.

I am having a website built. I'm not capable of doing it myself as webbing is beyond me.

I wanted to update the thread with a picture of the membrane switches that arrived today...

Hehehe

Looks nice. I do like the matt finish.

I noticed that the Kenometer lite had a zero function? Will the PRO have the same kind of feature or is it not needed?

I assume those partially viewable formulas are the secret to making this all work ;). What is the silver metal rod at the top of the picture? Looks kind of like a laser but with DC power leads running off of it except no laser output hole :).

I bought 3 kenometer lites and there is no zeroing function on them..
The older Standard Kenometer did have a zeroing function...
I have a few of those as well...

Hahaha the metal rod above is a bunch of lr44 batteries taped together so they don't roll all over the place!

Ah. The older version had them. Since the lite version doesn't have them I assume it is not needed :). Thanks.

I am very interested in how these work. From my understanding they are temperature based. Does ambient temperature affect the reading? For example... If you took the meter from a 72f room with a 100mw laser focused on it and it read 102mw and placed it in a 90f room with the same 100mw laser (assuming pitch black and no wind) do you think the mw reading would change? I assume it would a little but maybe not enough to notice?

I hope you keep the pics coming Kenom. Enjoying getting to see a glimpse of the dev/build process.

Thermopiles operate on a temperature differential - there are many thermocouple elements attached to the sensor plate in a circular pattern around the laser target area and then the body of the thermopile serves as a heatsink. Heat from the laser on the center of the sensor plate causes a differential between the metal body and the center of the plate - which causes the thermocouples to generate electricity

The new heads are much less prone to thermal drifting like the older Coherent ones that were used in the original Kenometers. However the Kenometer Pro does have an electronic zero function.

More pictures.

and here is an example of a potential overlay.

Hehe this is NOT how crappy the real thing will look. This was just me printing something really quick to get a looksee.
