Howto: USB Soundcard DAC (EZAudDAC) with Windows 7

SO messing with the pps option might help get rid of this?

Worth a shot, after all it's a simple pattern and your galvos are pretty good. For simple drawings they can go as high as 50k if I recall. The photo of the pattern seems to only produce dots on one diagonal half of pattern; I wonder if that indicates it's able to move the axle faster in a certain direction.

feel free to PM me for any help of you need it it took me over 10 hours to get mine working i wouldnt want anyone else to have to do that...

goninan_bl00d had a laser that would do this. It turns out it was actually using PWM as a crude form of modulation. Jellybeaning wouldn't usually be so consistent, and usually just results in varying brightness. Those are definite dots. I'd say either it's a TTL laser and you're trying to run analog, ot the gaps in between are meant to be other colours.

Yeah, I end up giving rep to the same set of people, but unfortunately the board doesn't like me doing that.

That was why I suggested that bennett check his color settings in the LFI preferences.. If it's set to "normal" it feeds an analog multicolor signal to the projector. If it's set to monochrome it's TTL single color.

I read all the posts and figured I had it all ready BUT ----
Like you guys, I have only 2 channels working -- X & Y.
Now to go back and read all 85 posts again.
I appear to be running Cmedia 7.12.8.2140 in Win 7.
The good news, my computer is talking to the DAC!
Thanks for leading the way ---
HMike

I have now updated to xx.x...2150 -- I'll test again.

i have been trouble shooting this all weekend and have talked to lots of people. so far i have no progress but i do know it isnt the correction amps fault.

i will let you know if i get anywhere else. i am 99.9% sure this is purely a windows problem and will continue working on it. hope i get somewhere.

I think this is Win7 problem. I have the same rev as BB and all I can get is 2 Channels. My default is set at USB Multi-Channel. Mode 7.1 was set in speakers.
HOWEVER --- Under digital output properties - Advanced, I have only 2 choices yet and both 2 channel. WHATTAPOS.
I have BB's 7.1 Max program and a Windows scan routine. Both work but only on 2 channels.
Do I need to go to Win 7 XP emulator to get back to 32 bit?

i am also using win7 when i told drlava that he goes "well thats your first problem"

yeah same but use the usb speakers as default not the sound card, at least thats what i was told to do. i would try the xp....but win7 is my primary computer and i would like to find a way to get it working on here to:undecided:...ill keep trying LOL

Windows 7 in XP mode can't find it's ass with both bits! WHATTAPOS.
HMike

I can't find a way to get the driver to open to 6 channels.
Can Win 7 be "told" to drop to 32 bits?

Unfortunately Mike I was thoroughly unable to get my DAC setup to work properly in Windows 7, which I addressed in the OP in the DAC tutorial thread.. It works flawlessly in Windows XP, so if you can arrange a dual-boot you'd be golden. Otherwise it is possible to use ANY sound card with the various correction amps (drlava, 300EVIL) as long as you can find the output filtering caps. Most Creative cards have them sensibly arranged so that they're not too hard to find if you have or have access to an oscilloscope.

Sadly, I have been unable to make my Win XP Mode (under Win 7) communicate with the system to load anything. To pay $700+ for a system so bound up with itself is a crime. I paid for this slave and it refuses to get to work :-( I can't even make my notebook computer function and it IS XP.

there has got to be a way to get this to work..... i will keep trying as i had it working previously and i highly doubt there is no way to get it to work again. i dont know allot about computers so my next few questions may seem very stupid. (heads up)

is there a way to run xp in a virtual machine?

i heard it will work will linux can i run Ubuntu as a program and use it in there?

also a win7 question: i had this working before and i want to put myself back at square one with everything. is there a way to reset all my sound setting?

I'd recommend a dual-boot configuration instead of VM. You pay a performance penalty running in a virtual machine as opposed to just restarting the computer and choosing XP at startup and actually booting into it.

Your linux options are too limited and even less user friendly than what you already know. I've had output before in Windows 7, but it seems like the c-media drivers are highly buggy, which renders the whole thing unstable. Some settings don't seem to do anything. That's why I suggest if you're going to use Win7 you try a different, more mainstream sound card. I haven't had a lot of free time lately to work on things like that but I plan on finding and tracing a mainstream external card soon hopefully..

meh if i buy anything else it will be a new DAC :eg: can you help me sometime set up a dual boot ? is there a way i can do it for free?

much appreciated, i may just end up selling this will a huge warning WINDOWS XP USERS ONLY :crackup::crackup: and buy myself another DAC

but i still would like to find a way to run this in win7 but :undecided:
