Howto: USB Soundcard DAC (EZAudDAC) with Windows 7

Pangolin will be there and help you get up and running quickly where as the SC DAC you will be praying someone in the community has an answer for you while you try random things trying to make it work...

If there's one thing I learned VERY early on in life, it's that there's no such thing as a free lunch. You either pay in money or you pay in effort. For many people one is much easier to find in volume than the other.

but when the effort is way more than expected you re-evaluate your decision :p

100% agreed! Except for the free lunch part!

If you talk a sales guy into believing that you will buy a couple grand worth of servers from him, free lunch! :p

Anyway many people get frustrated trying to get the thing to work for the first time and give up... I thing the Riya Lite is the best middle ground... It works with most hobby laser software and it's about par with a sound card DAC as far a price goes if you are buying one new... They are hard to get your hands on though.

Just for posterity. There was some advice early in this thread to use audacity for tuning your soundcard dac. I tried playing back the 6 and 7 channel max.wav files in audacity and was only getting output from channels 1 and 2. Turns out, audacity mixes everything down to stereo, so you only get 2 channels of playback no matter what.

tl;dr Don't use audacity to tune your soundcard dac.

Also, thank you for OP and others for all the information, it's been very helpful
