FS: Jibs Linear Drivers

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

hi jib, i was just wondering. if i put more than 9v .. say 10.8v would it blow the driver? or just generate the un-needed volts to heat? thanks. this is for the 1.3a drvers

It will *probably* be fine but generate more heat and hit the thermal protection at a lower current. The caps are rated for 10V but as with anything with a rating they are usually understated to manage expectations.

ahh okay, thanks for the info :)

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

did you test it? (@jib)

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

Did you get to test your boost drive Jib?

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

No workie ... only 500-600mA, just like my TPS63020. Im starting to think these little coilcraft inductors are not up to spec. But the problem is the alternatives are all WAY too big(12x12mm vs 4x4mm footprint). The search for continues.

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

Jib, I might need a new driver soon

The resistor on the back fell off.. (not Jib's fault)

Oh No! Poor driver. :)

Ok, just let me now ... Hopefully it will be quicker this time since we now have direct flights to OZ from DFW. I finally got to see QANTAS "Longreach" 747-400ER the other day. Wish I had $1400 to hop on (18hrs can't be too bad).

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

Hi Jib, I wanted to get 2x of the 444s and 1x 501s. Didn't know whether I should post her first or PM you :)

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

I'll take a 444 and a few 1.3's if you got em

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

There is a link in the OP for my PP buttons to purchase ... no need to PM me anymore. :)

ooh la la! Very nice indeed!

Awesome thanks Jib!

EDIT: PP sent for 1x 444mA and 1x 1.3 mA drivers.

Also for another question, a 444mA driver could succesfully drive a 12X correct (w/ 2x 18500s)? It appears so just want to be sure ;)

EDIT: I seen your chart for a 6V dummy load, your jib drive looks perfect for the job :)

y'know, not to complain, but you really need to put those diode pads closer together!

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

LOL ... I know. My prototype had them on opposite ends on the bottom layer, but I wanted a flatter bottom layer for better heatsinking. So I moved them to the top but that was the only place I have access to the GND plane.

One thing you can do to give that LD+ lead more isolation from the cap is to hook it up on the other side of the board.

Re: FS: Jibs Linear Drivers - 500mA, 1.3-1.6A, 1.8A

Jib I never followed up from this post when I thought I blew your one of my 1.8 jibdrives. Sorry about that man... Turns out it was the diode that I blew out when changing up the batteries back when I had and not your driver.

I've since reinstalled that driver into one of my Solarforce builds and it's working fine. It meters right around 1.8A depending on what lens I'm using too
