Otherwise, the 405nm lenses were finished last week, but the multilayer ones took some more time, because i only ordered six, and they had to combine the coating process with another larger order, to make it all worth it.


They also tested 20% of the lenses, and sent some quality reports about surface quality and whatnot. I don't even understand most of it..


There is another thing about these lenses, i have not thought about too much before and LikeitBright reminded me of.. The correct AR coating will not only increase the power, it will also reduce the reflections back into the diode to under 0.5%.

Too much optical power can be a diode killer, so this will not only make the powers higher, it will also make the high powers safer, which is good news for anyone, who likes pushing their diodes..


At this point, the lenses just have to work in the AixiZ lens nut, and all will be well..

I don't know wether I am too late. if I am not I would like to reserve 1 lense for 405nm.

It's not too late, because there is nothing happening just yet. Everyone is still waiting for the results of the testing..

Just one thing.. Is this for your other laser? If it's for the one i sent, you already have a lens reserved, independent of the GB.

Not really no. There might not even be any multilayer lenses ordered here, since everyone would only use them for reds.. They will be replaced with a 650nm coating.

If you're talking about the six i ordered, then also no. They are just for testing, they don't have a purpose in life yet.


But i don't think you could use them in a DPSS laser. There you first need an expender lens, and then a collimator, with a much different focal length, than these lenses have. I'm not really sure what is required there.


Also, a DPSS laser is a BIG project.
Especially for a yellow laser, where the crystal efficiency is so much lower...[ch263]
I always go nuts during the alignment process.. And that was just with frankensteined greens!

The one I meant here is for the laser you sent.
I might need another one for a DIY but this is not certain yet.
It's too soon to tell you if I need another custom lens, so I guess I'll let you know in time

It's not going to be too late, untill the final price is known and the orders confirmed. And there is testing to be done before that.
I need to test how the lenses work in the AixiZ lens nuts, as well as the power difference.


About the price. I posted the base price at the beginning. I got the invoice now and i will have to pay it in a few days. Then i can also see if there are any additional costs.


I also asked for an offer for 100 lenses, as this would seem to be the amount ordered..

Now, you have to understand, that the price won't drop to $5, even if we ordered 200 pieces. But i do think, that the GB price will be lower, than what i'm paying now. The price of the lenses goes down a bit with this amount, but the price of the coatings stays the same. So it will be a bit cheaper, but not dramatically so. That's why i posted the price i'm paying - so that you could base your decisions on that. Any discount on that price is then just good news for everyone interested.

I have also switched the multilayer orders for 650nm AR orders on the list, for a slightly lower price and higher tranmittance with 650nm diodes.

If someone on the 650nm list should actually prefer multilayer, that could still be arranged, but i kinda doubt, that would be the case... If i'm wrong, please let me know.
