My diodes are here! Half of them anyway...

They have been harvested from something, and they are not anything I've ever seen before.

The 120mW diodes have some optic glued to the front of the can. Sorry for the crappy pictures...

The 600mW 660 is a LCC type, the base of the diode is extruded somewhat. Again, sorry for the bad photos.

The 100mW 638 has no optic on the front, it looks like a normal diode to me.

I have no way to test these yet unfortunately, the diode socket I ordered hasn't come as well as the variable power supply either. They may not be 638, but they (some, at least) are something I've never seen or heard of before.

So at least we know they are harvesting them from something and that he was telling the truth.

Now lets hope the are 638nm.

Oh and the 650nm one looks like a LCC out of the GGW sled. Has the same looking back. Not saying its the same diode but the same style.

What seller has been bought out? these were still on ebay at least as of yesterday.

there are 3 or 4 of each diode left. And if I learned anything from the sanyos; once they're gone,
they're gone.
 
No.. The ones I bought were sold in batches of 3. I bought the whole lot of 3 on my 200mW 638 batch and the next day another lot of 3 popped up from the same seller.. and they're still there now. At least 4 separate auctions for them.

If they're harvested though. I just wonder what they come out of.. even with possibly bad beam specs.

Thanks for the information, but I still don't want to miss out on anything. My finger is twitching on the trigger.
 
^^^ No Fear. The seller told me that they will be in for a wial so no worries. If they are 638nm.
