120mW 638nm for $10.99 on the ebay including other Powers.

Ok who wants to contribute to the 'hurry up and test the damn diodes!' fund? :D

Does anyone know the pinouts for these diodes? Do they use the same pinout like the IR diodes use and other 635/8's use?

There goes one bought out...

Dude, quit worrying. I still see plenty of 638's on ebay in all the powers that's been listed in this thread so far.

If your that worried about it. just buy a few yourself. I doubt there will be a big 'run' on them until people start getting and testing theirs.. that is.. IF they're anything decent. And even then.. If they're being harvested, they'll still remain available as long as whatever they come out of is on the market.

Point being, If your that worried about them going away, take the risk now and order a couple. They're $10-$25 depending on power... It's not like we're talking a large chunk of change to get 2 of any of them.

Im not sure why people are scrambling to buy these unless you just want to get in on it before everyone else. If these are harvested diodes than the manufacturer bought TONS of them. Its also likely a new product. If anything like the 445nm diodes over time we will just know more about what they really are AND the price should go down believe it or not once hobbyists start to harvest them themselves.

You don't know how available these diodes will be down the road.

1. They are harvested
- In order to get prices this low the manufacturer obvious bought or produced tens of thousands of these minimum.

2. They are most likely in a new product
- Its pretty unlikely that a company has been making an affordable product with potentially thousands of dollars worth of 635nm diodes inside (assuming current market prices) and no one noticed or figured it out.

3. Multiple ebay sellers are selling the same or more powerful rated diodes at these dirt cheap prices.
- If they were only able to get a hold of a small quantity with no way to harvest more these prices would be stupid low.

This all points to an easy to obtain very affordable product full of high power red diodes. Obviously we can not know for sure at this point but we also dont even know what these diodes are at this point
