Wives usually hate most fun things from what I hear. Luckily I'm not married so I don't need to worry about it.

Your wife (parents for the younger folks) most likely does not resent the laser as much as the *addiction* and lack of attention to her needs. You could replace lasers with other types of addictions/hobbies (flashlights/cars/gaming/....) and likely get the same results. In my experience, wives' priorities and what they find important are almost certainly different than yours. What she likely seeks is a BALANCE between lasers/other hobbies and "the rest of life's activities". It's a continual struggle, but home life will be much more pleasant when you find and maintain the right balance. Good Luck!

See, you have to start off on a more expensive hobby, and then "downgrade" to the laser hobby, and it'll be more that you're giving up something "bigger" for lasers. This is what actually happened with me, I was an avid clay target/sporting clays shooter, and now don't have the money or time to maintain it full time, so I moved to lasers for the time-being, which is still awesome, and (at least for now) MUCH cheaper than my shooting hobby was. And my fiance is happy with it since I'm not doing the expensive stuff as much anymore.

I'm with Chimo on this one. My wife was really getting worried the week I got my Kenometer and spent almost every night testing and making vids. It really is about the balance. Last week was our anniversary, so I made a point of leaving the lasers alone and lavishing my attentions on her for a change. She's not so worried now. :) Also, make sure that you always pay for lasers from your personal "fun" money and not any joint account. Money will always lead to arguments. :p

But for you young bucks out there who are thinking "lasers or wife?", it's no contest. Wife is better. ;)

Well I'll be sure to get a wife that won't be forcing me to make such choices at all, not that I plan on getting married in the next 8 to 10 years ::) ;D
